How Obore used poverty-stricken Bukedea villagers’ National IDs to account for Shs 675m without their knowledge
In a petition dated July 2, 2026, to the Inspector General of Government (IGG), the Kachumbala Drivers and Loaders Association says it was shocked to discover that its members’ National ID NINs and driving permits had allegedly been used without their knowledge to support accountability documents submitted under the Parliamentary Commission.
Robert Eretu, who is allegedly listed as having received Shs 60 million, said he was shocked to learn that his name had been used.
“My name just appeared, but I have never received the money. I only got to know about it when I was called to the LC1 chairperson’s office to meet officials from the IGG,” Eretu said.
He said the revelation left him fearful.
“When I heard about it, I didn’t know whether to run for my life or suffer for a crime I didn’t commit,” he said.

🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️ Never seen you speak about the injustices Muhoozi is doing to fellow Ugandans or the tribalism in Uganda, but suddenly you’re the spokesperson on racism in Argentina🚮🚮🚮🚮
I have seen the attempt to do away with the leader of opposition, that's the most idiotic thing that anybody who has any sense in their head would be trying to do. - Mugisha Muntu

If government was serious against corruption and impunity, it should have treated us (whistleblowers) as very useful allies. Not using our revelations when convenient, while persecuting us at the same time!
@nbstv@SNabakooza1 I was waiting for him to say “97% of the stories were found to be untruthful” but only to hear “negative”. Meaning the untruthful part was an assumption not backed by evidence?
X formerly Twitter pays Ugandans, but you cannot process that money because we don't have the payment infrastructure. Gov't is not doing its part. @KwikirizaNova explains on our latest episode. Watch the full video on https://t.co/pztHukbAuS
Mr Mugume it is! My apologies for the late response, I was in class.
Before I say anything else, I'd like to address the typo in my first post: "There’s no way you let yourself get respected" should have been "There’s no way you let yourself get DISrespected."
You asked for my point and here it is. Today you reported that Nation Media Group's owners committed to "patriotic, balanced and objective" journalism after meeting the CDF, Muhoozi. The man who sent soldiers to shut the newsrooms also was the one who supplied the official story of how the problem was resolved, and you published his version as ‘the news’. That is the problem with your method of reporting.
Your report did not mention that Reporters Without Borders (RSF) and the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) both heavily condemned the shutdown of NTV and Daily Monitor. Muhoozi himself posted on X, in a since-deleted post: "In Uganda, I DO NOT believe in a free press!"
When soldiers close your colleagues' newsrooms and the man who ordered it is the one announcing changes in their organization, by repeating his words you are not practicing balanced journalism, you are only conforming to the status quo. And, to repeat myself, you are allowing yourself to be used as a puppet.
Let me ask you this:
What does it mean to be a journalist in Uganda if the terms under which you operate are dictated by the same army general who shut down the biggest media house in the country at will?
They're trying to take over indirectly. We did not vote for them. They weren't even on the ballot papers, yet suddenly they're making decisions for the country.Abducting people, shutting down businesses
This is a hostage situation.
Thousands already want to be part of our story. Don’t get left behind

Abductions, political violence and repression did not begin with NUP. They have existed since the day this regime came into power.
To suggest that this struggle only started recently is to diminish the sacrifices of veteran politicians, lawyers, activists and ordinary Ugandans who were imprisoned, tortured, exiled and lost their lives long before NUP existed.
Be careful not to erase history. Recognizing today’s victims should never come at the expense of those who paved the way.
