I remember a @BLM_TO demo much smaller than this in public space (at Nathan Phillips). Just abt 30 ppl sitting on the steps. People were singing. No public health hazard.
Toronto Police emptied a giant bus load of cops in riot gear and I think maybe 4 or 5 horses to come get us.
In the last week, the City of Toronto has:
- threatened legal action against Khaleel Seivwright for building portable homeless shelters
- ordered the removal of the Parkdale community fridge
but chooses not to disperse a crowd of dozens of people eating indoors at adamson bbq??
yesterday I met a 60-something year old black man who's been dealing with years of discrimination at work. I asked for any paperwork I could review to help him tell his story
it regularly blows my mind how black people become archivists for our own survival
