At least 26 killed and a thousand injured across Myanmar today. Our thoughts are with those killed and injured during today’s violent crackdown. The excessive use of force and other violations committed by the Military Junta are being recorded and they will be held accountable.

The action Sunday means that the number of people charged under the NSL has now multiplied by almost tenfold. After today, every prominent (and moderate) opposition voice in Hong Kong is either in jail, denied bail, or in exile.
47 charged today under the national security law for 'inciting subversion', for organizing or participating in the July primary. Staggering and devastating for Hong Kong. Our story up now on @washingtonpost with @TMclaughlin3@theodorayuhk

This could mean that they will soon face at least months-long pre-trial detention, as defendants charged under the NSL so far have all been denied bail.
As the activists who were arrested in Jan on suspicion of subversion under the NSL for organising the pro-democracy camp primaries report to police today, HK01 reports that at least 30 out of the 55 will be charged and appear in court tmr. https://t.co/cXZaveGLkZ
7. The arrests were made during the final days of the Election Certification of the US Presidential Election. It is obvious that the CCP is hoping this crackdown would go unnoticed amidst such arduous times, it is an attempt to avoid the international gaze and spotlight.
6. There is no doubt that today’s crackdown is equivalent to the Formosa Incident. 2021 is the start of a decade, and this decade would only bring further crackdown from the CCP. Free World should support us and stop the CCP from encroaching our rights and liberal values.
5. This is once again hard proof that the Hong Kong Legislative Council is a rubber stamp for the NPC, losing any democratic value it once held. The CCP hopes to stifle all traces of democracy in the city. Hong Kong would only be left with “dissidents” who are loyal to the CCP.
4.Every LegCo member enjoys the right to veto the budget as it is a right conferred by law, it is definitely not “subversive” by nature. The CCP is asserting that any future actions in the LegCo showing resistance and not complete compliance will be regarded as subversion of gov.
