OPINION: "Taking up more than a quarter of the city's land, streets are San Francisco's largest asset — and our greatest opportunity to revitalize the city," writes Luke Spray, host of the San Francisco-focused radio show "Roll Over Easy." https://t.co/tER5BmIwoO
A few years ago I stumbled upon a little oasis called El Polín Spring. I wanted to write about my love for it, but the process made me ask other questions:
Where does a city begin? Where is SF going? No matter the answers, you should go to El Polín! https://t.co/Hap58SYR6i
In 2020, Paris launched “school streets” outside 211 schools, closing streets to traffic during pick-up & drop-off.
At least 22 have since become permanent pedestrian streets, creating dynamic new community spaces 7 days a week.

Only been in SF for 50 days and am pretty sure it's the most underrated city in America.
The delta between the Twitter/media story about SF and the actual lived experience is mind-boggling 🤯.
Another elementary school shooting where lives are forever altered by a preventable tragedy. I loathe that my students and my safety are not guaranteed in this country. How can I be asked to model hope for my students when preventing this crisis feels so hopeless? #edchat
San Francisco is a city of beautiful neighborhoods, but we only let tourists stay in the CBD (often dead) or Fisherman's Wharf (tacky caricature).
If we want to change the narrative, why not let them see what we see? Why aren't there hotels in our vibrant walkable neighborhoods?
Only a teacher would know the moral dilemma of a copy machine jamming while you are using it, then having to decide between trying to fix it or being on time to your next class… And most of us have done both.
@madwells22@Grant_Marek Which is precisely why @lukespray & I threw Fleet Week parties there because no one else considered renting out their patio for the occasion for the price of all you can drink margaritas & all you can eat appetizers.
When you eat a Thanksgiving feast at 1:30pm, only to hungry again by 8pm, & the Domino’s is already closed down the road from your motel, so you buy microwave pizza instead to zap in your room, all the while hoping the sounds from the microwave don’t wake your sleeping baby.
