Obama: Imagine if I had done any of this. Imagine if I had pulled Fox News’ credentials from the White House press corps. Imagine if I had said to law firms that were representing parties that were upset with policies my administration had initiated, that you will not be allowed into government buildings. We will punish you economically for dissenting from the Affordable Care Act or the Iran deal. We will ferret out students who protest against my policies.
It’s unimaginable that the same parties that are silent now would have tolerated behavior like that from me, or a whole bunch of my predecessors.
Former President Barack Obama criticized President Donald Trump's actions targeting law firms and universities Thursday, encouraging them to fight back.
"It is up to all of us to fix this," Obama said during a speech at Hamilton College. "It’s not going to be because somebody comes and saves you. The most important office in this democracy is the citizen, the ordinary person who says, no, that’s not right."
The comments come after Trump issued a series of executive orders targeting law firms that represented people who he says worked against him or what he said were American interests. The administration has also threatened to withhold federal funding from institutions that continue DEI efforts, which the administration has spoken out against.
The Constitution uses persons and citizens and they are not interchangeable. Persons inside the USA have all constitutional rights except a very view reserved to citizens only like voting.
Faulkner: "Look, free speech I thought under our laws and Constitution was for our citizens. Mahmoud Khalil was not a citizen ... we don't have to promise him anything. We're a great country. It's very gracious of us to give him anything. And we can give him a free ride back to wherever he'd like to go."
Maj. Gen. Charles Calvin Rogers earned the Medal of Honor through valor, not 'DEI.' The DoD erased his page, only to reinstate it after backlash. History matters—especially when its erasure serves an agenda. Respect our heroes, don't rewrite their legacy. https://t.co/gX2fp3k01Q
60 years ago, a group of brave civil rights organizers marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in the pursuit of justice and equality. Today we’re reminded of their courageous sacrifices, and tasked with the responsibility of doing what we can to carry forward their work.
@RepDonBacon Ridiculous. Trump is taking away money for child cancer and the teenager was used. All who do not support racial slurs should have walked when Trump called Senator Warren Pocahontas.
