This just happened:
I hosted about a dozen people for breakfast this morning... in a small restaurant in a *very* rural part of Iowa.
Midway through our conversation, just as I was telling my new friends that we're in the middle of a war in this country and that we're not necessarily winning... the owner of the place—who has now realized we're talking politics and we're Republicans, came and told me that I couldn't talk about politics in her restaurant.
I acknowledged that I heard her. Then, I turned to the table and said THIS is what I'm talking about. We are losing our country, our culture, and the fundamental right to free speech.
Politicians don't have to write laws to take away your free speech *if* you're willing to hand it over to them.
Suffice it to say, I kept on talking. Didn't miss a beat. I will *not* self censor.
She said something else about this is a private business...yada yada yada. Her husband, who was in the kitchen, came out... and apologized for his wife. He explained that it's tough being married to a liberal.
About 20 minutes later, when we went to pay the bill, she apologized, as well. She said she shouldn't have gotten upset.
Fear is contagious. But guess what?
Courage is contagious, too. Be courageous. We, the people, can't shut up. Not now.
Former Navy SEALS rescued 200 children during the Sound of Freedom movie’s production 🔥 👇😳
When the team behind the movie "Sound of Freedom" selected Jim Caviezel to portray the character of Tim Bellard, a former U.S. Special Agent for the Department of Homeland Security who left his job to save children from sex traffickers, they encountered a single concern. Jim's wife, was worried about the security situation in Colombia where the filming would take place. Tim Ballard, offered thirty former Navy SEALs to ensure his safety. With this proposal, the problem was resolved. While strolling through the streets of Cartagena, the ex-SEALs disguised themselves as tourists, and when smugglers approached them offering children, Ballard's team swiftly initiated the rescue operation. Few weeks later, Colombian newspapers woke up to headlines announcing the successful rescue of 200 children as part of the Underground Railroad operation. According to Eduardo, If Jim's wife had agreed from the beginning, the officers would not have embarked on the mission to rescue those 200 children.
This is Pastor Chad Scruggs and his daughter Hallie Scruggs.
Hallie was brutally massacred along with 3 of her classmates at a Christian school in Nashville by a radical transgender activist.
Chad and his family chose to build his community, rather than terrorize it.
This is a spiritual battle. The greatest weapon we have is prayer.
This morning, take a heartfelt moment to pray for this mourning family and for an end to demonic evil in our country.
My heart breaks for this family and our broken nation.
But in times like these I find prayer to be the most potent.
So pray. Then pray again.
We know how this story ends: Good will win and God will triumph over Evil.
Stay close to God. 🙏
Are we in the last days?
Should the church have a major emphasis on eschatology (end times)? Should the church be more adamant about how one takes Revelation than Genesis?
Don't get me wrong. God's Word has a lot to say about end times & the return of Jesus. And Revelation is in the inerrant Word of God just as Genesis is.
But, yes we're in the last days. Peter teaches about that in 2 Peter 3. We've been in the last days since Jesus' earthly ministry 2000 years ago. But how last are we? We're more last than we were 2000 years ago & we're more last today than we were yesterday!
Through the ages, there's probably been people who are sure their generation was the last. An elderly pastor I knew when I was a teenager believed Jesus would return in his generation. My father saw things getting bad in his day in the culture & the rampant liberal theology & evolutionary compromise in the church. He thought Jesus could return in his day.
Many Christians look at how depraved the culture has become in the USA & entire West & believe we are in the last of the last days & Jesus will come very soon.
But I also remind people that we think the culture in the USA is bad, but there's still a remnant of millions of people (certainly a minority) who stand boldly on God's Word. Remember, God would have saved Sodom & Gomorrah for only 10 righteous, but there weren't even 10 (Genesis 18:32).
Christians have said to me that we are living in days like Noah? But are we really? There were only 8 people that obeyed God (1 Peter 3:20). And we read of all the others, "The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Genesis 6:5). I've often wondered if Abraham didn't go less than 10 in his pleading re Sodom & Gomorrah as he knew God didn't save the entire earth for 8 in Noah's day.
And we have to be careful using our own culture as the baseline for thinking about such things. There are other cultures where revival can be happening. Yet in the midst of it all there'll always be more on the broadway than the narrow way (Matthew 7:14).
Also, during the last days, there have been different battles over the authority of God's Word. Battles over the deity of Christ, salvation by grace alone etc. And we need to understand the major battle over God's Word in our era (which I would say began in the 1800's) is one of the historical & foundational importance of Genesis 1-11.
We live at a time where even much of the church has succumbed to compromise with the pagan religion (that's what it is) of evolution/millions of years. This is where the church really lost the foundation of the authority of the Word of God that has led to massive generational loss from the church & an overall lukewarm church.
And yet, I see many churches much more concerned about eschatology & Revelation than Genesis. Many churches will vehemently demand a particular interpretation of Revelation in their statement of faith, but not so in Genesis.
Yet Genesis is the foundation for the rest of the bible, not Revelation. Genesis 1-11 is the foundation for all doctrine, not Revelation. Genesis 1-11 is the foundation for our Christian worldview, not Revelation. Genesis 1-11 is where much of the church lost the battle today & yet many focus more on end times.
Now to reiterate. I'm not saying teaching on Revelation & end times is not important. But I earnestly believe much of the church, most of our Christian institutions & most Christians have not been dealing with where the major battle is at today over the authority of the Word of God. And that battle today is particularly over the historicity & foundational importance of Genesis 1-11.
Yes we need to teach & warn that Jesus is returning. We don't know when that will be. It could be in another 1000 years. But let's focus on fervently teaching God's Word & the gospel, doing the business of the King till He returns (Luke 19:13).
God please deliver us from empty worship songs that say nothing.
We have so much to celebrate, such a Saviour to applaud & magnify, such awesome truths to reflect on & sing about together.
Life is tough. We don’t need naff songs. We need to glory in our God & his salvation.
Today’s Democrat Party does not believe in our constitutionally protected right to freedom of religion. They are hostile toward people of faith and spirituality, and actively undermine our religious freedom.
I share the deep concern of millions of Americans over the unprecedented search of the personal residence of President Trump. No former President of the United States has ever been subject to a raid of their personal residence in American history.
Here’s why the FBI raid - absent a finding that puts former President Trump behind bars - is so damaging:
1) Most governmental institutions are already not trusted by the American people. This raid contributes to mistrust of the FBI.
If the FBI was looking for documents, they could’ve contacted Trump’s attorneys. This matter could’ve been resolved with a phone call. This raid was a show of force. A reminder that if they can do whatever they please to a President, nobody is safe. This was a warning.
A woman just bought a sticker and then immediately placed it on her water bottle and asked me to throw away the back. I have never been so jealous of someones ability to make a decision without thinking about it for six months and then finding the sticker at the bottom of a bag.
Pro-abortion activists are saying under pro-life laws, women who have ectopic pregnancies can’t get care.
It’s a lie.
If your doctor is saying this, get a new doctor. Pro-life doctors will treat ectopic pregnancies.
No pro-life law restricts treating ectopic pregnancy.
The fact that is considered legal for a corporation to compile perfect records of your private life simply because you had to "click OK to continue" to make your phone work is a perfect expression of who holds the power in society and why they should be cast into the sea.
“You guys are pro-birth. You don’t care about women once they have their babies.”
“We have over 3000 pregnancy centers that have given out billions of dollars of materials and resources to help women and their babies.”
“Oh really? Where are they so we can burn them down.” 🙄
