I asked my Dad, one day, when I was little, why all clover was not four-leafed. "It is!" he said, "But the fairies take their cows out to graze every night - always at night, so that nobody can see them - and they eat just ONE leaf off every plant. When you find a four-leafed clover, it has been missed by the fairy cows, and THAT'S why it's lucky!"
