@blauereiter It's a combo of 2D FX (i.e. traditional hand animated)+3D FX: First we animated a pass in 2D to define the design, motion and timing (and animate details such as anime-like sparkles and flares) all this was then passed on to 3D FX for extra-detailing passes, particles textures...

Its wild to see Kpop gain such popularity! For all these shots (spoilers ahead if you havent seen), I helped do the 2D animation for the weapon formations as the girls summon their magical weapons from the Honmoon! FX is magic! ✨

One of the things I enjoy the most about the Huntrix's action scenes in #KPOPDEMONHUNTERS is the FX animation for the summoning of their Honmoon infused spirit weapons. If you're one of the FX/lighting/comp artists who worked on it, tell us how it's put together. 😃#vfx

@blauereiter Yup, everything that @NikolaosFinizio said summarizes what we did on Kpop! One of the smaller details is on some of the shots, we tried to have traditional Korean Norigae knots form at the hilt, but it only worked for the slower shots.
