Meditation and SKY Rhythmic breathing techniques leads to a state of relaxation and deep focus at the same time. A state of mind we all can use and practice! Article in Nature collections.

Happy to share our paper about medico-legal environment in Skull base @JNLSReports . Great job by Dr. Danner Butler, a medical student @UofSouthAlabama when he spearheaded this topic close to me and now a neurosurgery resident @NeurosurgeryUab. Even though majority of times defandants won the case; whats the cost of time, stress and emotional unsettlement from this?
Medicolegal Landscape should always be designed for making sure physicians uphold the standard of care. How many times we encounter text book neurosurgical conditions in skull base or neurosurgery in general ? NOT ROUTINELY. Every tumor is different, every trauma is unique, every deformity has unique measurements. So what is truly the definition of standard of care. Level 1, level 2a or 2b? What about conflicting RCTs or prospective studies? Shouldn’t be our judiciary designed to wean the very rare physicians who make intentional pathological mistakes and defend the others? Or should the billboards which you see while driving, become more and more popular, encouraging physicians to practice reactionary defensive medicine, young generation becoming doctors in fear, growing administrative positions with parallel declining pathway of physicians choosing early retirement.
What really was considered a “noble profession” given the extreme sacrifice which the health care providers go through, the sacredness of the oath, spending atleast 15 years of preparation to take care of your loved ones; is it still noble? I hope so and for sake of humanity, I hope our next generation of physicians stay inspired to take care of each other. Its NOT a business, just simply taking care of your loved ones.

Neurosurgery awareness month!
Such a pleasure taking care of Ms. Laura. She got radiation(SRS) at another University Hospital but unfortunately her pain returned back very fast. Trigeminal neuralgia is so debilitating and is called suicide disease for a reason. So glad we could help her. We truly appreciate Laura and her husband for sharing their journey with everyone. @UofSouthAlabama

Changing gears; Wellbeing especially in health care providers is lacking and under utilized. Reposing in the present moment is a learnt skill. Learning how to empty yourself periodically is invaluable! Come join us for a glimpse of evidence based breathwork and meditation.
Honored to be part of this great group. Teaching residents and fellows about skull base neurosurgery is so special and in that process of answering their questions, you personally learn so much. Appreciate everyone’s dedication to find time to practice and practice just to make sure you are thriving to make the surgery safer and better. Appreciate @NASBSorg for the invitation to teach and organizing one of the best skull base courses there is! @PrevedelloDanny, Dr. Paul Gardner, Dr. Bharat Guthikonda, Dr. Varun Kshettey @SkullBase_doc , dr. Nuss, Katie Melder, @JamieVanGompel, Dr. Sargi, Dr. Mehta
@DoctorZada@TheJNS It is our teams privilege and honor to contribute towards this section of JNS focus and we thank you Dr. Zada and all the expert topic editors for the opportunity.
While we see numerous profoundly rewarding tranformative experiences as a neurosurgeon; every neurosurgery provider have been witness to devastating clinical scenarios and makes you experience “Grief” from a unique dimmension. You see the grief of the patient, patient caregivers, providers attached to the care of the patient and witness your own. Our team of Neurosurgeons, Engineers, SKY Breath Meditation Facilatators, Sound Alchemist and Advanced Practice Providers come together to discuss the Grief seen in the circle of Neurosurgery through this paper in JNS Focus. We illuminate the potential role of “Ikigai”, teachings of non dualistic philosophy of Ashtavakra Gita and SKY Breath meditation practices in handling grief. @jmp9782@jacquesmorcosmd@TheJNS@DoctorZada@Gurudev@ajtejasvi@Bhanujgd

Sometimes living in the noise surrounding our day to day lives, we forget how blessed and lucky we are to be a tool of transformation for fellow beings in their most stressful times. The long hours, performance pressure, complications and grief handling is tough; but a Privilege. Very grateful to Ms. Rowland for sharing her remarkable journey of going through surgery for her complex cervico-medullary hemangioblastoma. It was our honor to take care of her and lots of best wishes to her and her beautiful family. https://t.co/2b0chqSAgG

Was honored to serve as the invited faculty at Pacific Rim Master Class Endoscopic and Keyhole Surgery Course at the Pacific Neuroscience Institute! Great course organized by @GarniBDarian and team. In the process of teaching these courses, best part is I get to learn so much from each other. @PeterNakajiM, Nikolai Hopf, @ASamyYoussef@Doosik_Kong, Daniel Kelly, @DrWallyMD@RachelBlueMD
As much passion driven providing neurosurgical care is for me, exploring the realms of “self” has been a cornerstone grounding element. It was an honor to speak about my perspective on metaphysics and quantum dimmensions of human existence and the need for meditation practices. Second law of thermodynamics in paticular is of most interest. Of what we can tell, universe began from near zero or zero entropy state. Bringing some form of mindfulness, brings your fleeting mind from high to low entropy state. As @Gurudev mentions, when we pray, we subconsciously go into a consolidated low entropy state (try becoming aware in that act). Knowing the double slit experiment, brings clarity in our existense as we possess particle and a wave function. We often relate to particle function. Mindfulness (or rather it should be mindlessness), enhances awareness to the dimmension of wave function existense.
By no means I am an expert, and often vulnerable. But thats the beauty of meditation state; it does not judge.

Very proud of our team. It takes a whole village to build a skull base program from scratch but when the motivation is patient care and academic contribution, the journey is fun.
Thank you Dr. Madison Michael for a great meeting, program chairs, scientific committee, mentors and all the peers; to push the field forward and motivate each other to achieve the best for our patients. #anythingispossible, #skullbase
Honored to be invited for sharing my 2 cents on Eyebrow approach for Anterior Skull Base meningiomas @NASBSorg . Great interactive discussion with skull base collegues from Brigham and OHSU Oregon. Thank you @StephenTMagill for organizing a great educational dialogue! #meningioma
