@MaaaarisollM @dcmireles I agree with you since many students often times have to skip class in order to attend practice or games missing time in class or preparing for tests or writing or doing anything to help their academics #ucr50 @dcmireles
According to vice sports, a college degree is not worth it for college athletes because the athletes are not fully equipped to enter the real world. @dcmireles #ucr50 https://t.co/3nJu1lCEav
@MaaaarisollM @dcmireles I agree with you because I feel as if these students are treated like slaves. Students work hard every day in order to allow these institutions to gain profits and divulge in their riches, ignoring the fact that the may even be exploiting their students past their breaking point.
This article argues that whenever a whistle is blown by a refree or coach at a collgege game more and more money is being poured down that person's pocket. Money that should be divided and spread between college athletes. https://t.co/bvMgeMaNXY @dcmireles #ucr50
@MaaaarisollM @dcmireles I agree with you although title is was implemented in order to help women to be more represented and be given the same rights as men there is just not enough being done to monitor or execute gender equality in sports. @dcmireles #ucr50
Although there have been a few attempts at improving the gender inequality in education through the use of title IX and other policies, there is still a lot more that needs to be done in order to destruct gender marginalization at school. @dcmireles #ucr50 https://t.co/x9nlVK2s2u
@KLaur001 @dcmireles This picture really captures the sad truth regarding college athletes. Because although they kill themselves out on the field all day and suffer from fatigue, mental and physical pain, as well as stress they receive little to nothing to compensate for their hard work.
even after years of constant talk of diversifying and improving our living situations and making our children feel at home many still find it hard to believe since many opportunities are not provided to minorities #ucr50 @dcmireles https://t.co/Lm7hJ3yyKU
@Brenda_Monge_Re @dcmireles It is hard especially when man even have to carry out various activities outside of school such as work, studying, internships, and maybe even volunteering. @dcmireles #ucr50
i find it sad that suicide is an outcome from the stress and mental health issues caused by college athletics. @dcmireles #ucr50 https://t.co/ffOChe3prV
@ljohn014 @dcmireles I see your point but the students are the ones who have to put in the extra hours into practices, games and school, making it dissicult for them to keep a balance between these things and therefore it is sad to hear that hey are not being compensated as well as one would hope.
It's surprising that evne after students gain access a scholarship because of their athletics they find themselves forced to make the decision of dropping out because they can't balance their studies and the games
@dcmireles #ucr50 https://t.co/LBccwWrJGY
@melissacerril @dcmireles I agree with you it is highly unfair to the players since they are the ones putting in the effort to win the game. Especially since they kill themselves training and enduring the pain onl to have the appraisal given to their coach. #ucr50
It is surprising to realize that colleges and college coaches rather than protecting their students bring more harm than good. Just last year some even pocketed money earned from games rather than providing it to the students @dcmireles #UCR50 https://t.co/ObNpe3IDMH
@acarr041UCR @dcmireles I see your point college presidents should be aware that there is more to college beyond the field. However, some are reluctant to change and will not change unless students ask for the change themselves.
It is sad to realize that while some students try hard to achieve good academic standing by studying others get to walk away with cheating. In some cases it is reported that even the NCAA has found itself aiding its players to do so. #ucr50 @dcmireles https://t.co/iaZC7XX1f0
