@AFowlerPhoto It was called Butts Gate after the gate just past the house. The name changed in 1958 to The Hawthorns due to the Hawthorn tree at the side of it..
In 1963 the snow was so deep it reached the gutter at the front of the house blocking all access exits from the house.
