PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE BEGINS PROBE OF 28 STATE ENTERPRISES

Botswana’s Parliamentary Standing Committee on Statutory Bodies and State Enterprises has launched an examination of 28 state-owned entities in a move aimed at strengthening accountability over the use of public funds.

The review will see accounting officers and chief executives appear before the committee for hearings focused on financial management, corporate governance and compliance with audit and regulatory recommendations.
Parliamentary Spokesperson, Silas Sehularo told Gabz FM News that the exercise will scrutinise financial records covering the 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 financial years.

The committee forms part of Parliament’s oversight system and is made up of Members of Parliament appointed through the Committee of Selection.
