@Liqvidity @dougboneparth Point being, discipline isn’t binary. Working these simple pleasures into a budget isn’t a lack of discipline, it’s called prioritizing. The discipline comes in when you sit down to decide what is worth it and what isn’t, And knowing it doesn’t have to be the same for everyone.

Don’t buy things without having saved for them, have set budgets, and savings accounts for specific goals. Am I still not disciplined if I treat myself to a $5 coffee on my way to work?

@sweatystartup Video games are only one way to waste time. You’ll still have to teach them discipline, balance, time management etc. Also please be prepared to explain to your kids why their friends have something that they “can’t” In a way that isn’t just “because I said so”.

@joe_armitage @yumekuimimi @tomhfh Going from east coast to west coast will probably always be best suited for air travel. I’m not arguing trains should completely replace airlines, Just that I think there’s a justified application for both even in a country of this size.

@joe_armitage @yumekuimimi @tomhfh FWIW I live in Kansas City and grew up in Nebraska, so your example hits home to me lol. Getting anywhere worth going is easily an 8 hour drive. Our airport is good but still most flights require a connection and doesn’t solve the cost to fly problem.
