Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins spoke out recently about his faith, refusing to hide who he really is just to appease the culture. He recounted how he told Rolling Stone that God was the "third rail of rock and roll," but he made the choice to speak openly about being a Christian anyway.
Why? Because as he put it: "If I can't be willing to be honest with who I am, well, what am I asking a fan to believe in?"
He's right! We know the music industry pressures artists away from God. Speaking out about believing in Him is career suicide. But when rock icons start speaking the truth without fear, you know the tide is turning. I feel like there is a genuine Christian renaissance happening in this country right now, and we are only at the very beginning of it.
