@admiral_stapler@ericn@3blue1brown Yes I guess it's a matter of the notation and its loose usage culturally. My experience in software engineering has been that we often write big O including constants when comparing performance of algorithms in concrete application where aren't concerned with the limit.
@admiral_stapler@ericn@3blue1brown For asymptotic analysis O(4n) is also O(n). Useful to compare how they scale - but to claim equality ignores useful information. If you're talking about comparing algorithms for concrete usage. For example if n for your data set is bounded that constant is quite relevant.
@kerr_vernon I can't answer that. Also don't have strong opinions on if his approach of drastic cuts makes good business sense. I just feel the flippancy with which he went about the firings and the recent email: '"click yes" to agree to hardcore long hours or your out' was messed up.
@kerr_vernon Musk inviting these guys for a photo shoot just to revel in the "hilarious meme" is just a big FU to the people that actually lost their jobs. Completely tone deaf.
@kerr_vernon You realize he is trolling here right? Those guys he's pictured with weren't even real fired employees just a couple opportunistic jokesters that got a phallic reference on the news by pretending to be fired employees on day one of the debacle.

@kerr_vernon According to this data[1]. For people 70~79 mortality rate is 8%, 79 and older it is ~15%, not nearly as dire as 50-50! Also people in those age brackets tend to have more preexisting conditions which is the bigger factor it seems.
