Most men step back when things get hard.
Successful husbands press in.
Don’t look for satisfaction anywhere outside of your marriage.
Stand your ground. Love your wife. Trust God.
You can be well rested - and still be tired.
How do you stop being tired? Stop carrying the things God asked you to lay down.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 ESV
Too often we “play” marriage.
Do the minimum, but find enjoyment in work.
Do the minimum, but find enjoyment in friends.
Do the minimum, but find enjoyment in leaving the house.
We invest time & focus in the wrong areas.
Water your grass. Tend to your garden. Watch it thrive
Your spouse doesn’t complete you.
They help you carry out your purpose.
Expecting your spouse to complete you places a God sized expectation on another person that they will never be able to accomplish.
Look to God.
Hold your spouses hand.
Chase after all He has for you.
Investing in your marriage will be the best decision you make.
Invest the time
Invest the effort
Invest the money
Read the book
Go on the trip
Attend the conference
Don’t wait.
Marriage CAN BE one of greatest blessings on this side of heaven, but you have to invest in it.
Pro-tip for the faith-filled husbands: the algorithm is not “pro-marriage”
The social media algorithm is “pro-eyeballs”
Whatever catches your eyes attention it will give you more of - even if it ruins your marriage
Guard your eyes. Guard your heart. Protect your marriage.
Passivity leads to compromise.
If we are passive when we date, we will take things father than we thought we would.
If we are passive when we are married, we will grow apart and leave room for the enemy to bring division.
Don’t be passive. Be bold.
If we don’t grasp the depth of Christ’s love for us - then we won’t love our spouse fully.
We will use our spouse.
We will resist our spouse.
We will look to the world instead of our spouse.
We will drift away from our spouse.
“We love because he first loved us.”
1 John 4:19
The more we step out in faith - the more our inner circle is likely to be offended.
Why?
People who are comfortable are confronted with the possibility that they comfort might be the wrong objective - comfort over obedience.
Galatians 1:10
Without maintenance - repairs need to happen.
Whether it’s:
- a vehicle
- a relationship
- a business
- your body
- your heart
- anything
Maintenance may cost something: extra time, energy, even money.
Repairs cost exponentially more.
Don’t be lazy, do your maintenance!
No matter what comes, we have the opportunity to grow, to overcome. Why? Because in our weakness we experience the strength of the Lord.
“But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
2 Corinthians 12:9
