Reflecting on the last 12 hours as a @Groundswellaguk first-timer. Excellent to be around such a positive and tenacious segment of the industry. Extremely exciting and reassuring ideas and activities. Reminding me why I do what I do. 10/10 Lunch options. 11/10 sunburn.
Cherry stuff in the ES. Hoping the powers that be are listening. Also hoping that the inhabitants of London don’t think they have to wait for our (uninspiring) leaders.
Very pleased to have launched this yesterday. Looking forward to working with our Farmers and Suppliers to help them stay ahead of the curve as the project develops. Thanks to @thelandapp and @UK_CEH and for helping to make it happen!
We're excited to partner with @sainsburys to help them become a Nature positive retailer. 🌳

We try our hardest to look after the crops we grow but sometimes we get tripped up. Loads of great #onions left here for #gleaning but too many suffered from the extreme 40+ degree heat meaning we can’t store or sell them. Please come & help yourselves #backbritishfarmers
You might not agree with it all, I’m not sure I do. And some of it may be fairly impractical (i.e. an 88% reduction in sugar beet production = 100% in reality). But this is well worth reading. (Don’t lose faith in the 125 pages, it’s worth it)
Our new report, Feeding Britain from the Ground Up, finds that if we change the way we farm and what we eat, we could improve our health, protect nature, combat climate change and be more food secure as a nation.

There is a lot of mythology about soils. Using a very large dataset from China a big gang of colleagues tried to put some numbers on why good soil management is important for yields and resilience: See results here: https://t.co/tmg3lFq3Yo
This underlines a point I’ve made time & time again. We need to stop talking about “food poverty” which tries to shift the responsibility to the food industry. It is Income Poverty full stop which manifests itself in food, housing & fuel challenges. A disgrace in the UK in 2022
Today is #BackBritishFarmingDay Recently in Essex we’ve welcomed three of our MPs onto members’ farms to highlight the issues facing British Agriculture. Thank you @JamesCleverly@GilesWatling@Metcalfe_SBET for joining us and remember to Back British Farming!

This is my attempt at food photography- a ladybird engorging on an aphid. I’m hoping it wasn’t a chance find and was being replicated across the farm! A much more satisfying image than a perfectly arranged flambé with a well constituted jüs @BBRO_Beet
Who doesn't love a sweet Australian import, eh?
But actual imported Aussie cane sugar is way more complicated.
The future trade deal with 🇦🇺 is right now being thrashed out in the Cabinet.
And, I just can't get it out of my thread...👇
After years of lobbying from @NFUtweets working with the @APPGBioethanol it is fantastic to see this delivered

Having wrongly thought Suffolk was heading to tier 4 (and we’d be having Christmas dinner for 2) we went ‘essentials’ shopping. We came away with red wine, maple-syrup smoked bacon, a Waitrose mag, brandy butter and to top it off... a sodding guinea fowl (🇬🇧 of course). Ashamed.
