She once needed a teacher. Today, she is the teacher. ❤️📚
Meet Fauziya Mohammed, a young woman from Northeast Nigeria whose family was displaced by conflict.
Despite the challenges, she continued her education and eventually returned to teach girls at an IDP camp school.
Think about that.
She experienced displacement herself, yet she chose to help other children build a future through education.
Sometimes, the most powerful way to overcome hardship is to become the hope someone else needs.
Her story deserves to be told. 🇳🇬❤️
The Watch
My mother never asked if I'd stolen Dad's watch. She just packed my bag.
I was nineteen. Dan said he saw me take it from the drawer. I said I didn't. Mom asked, "Then why would he lie?" I had no answer. I left on the 9:40 bus, and she didn't call for eleven years.
When she died, I went home for the will reading. Dan sat down in his good suit and talked about selling the house. Half the town knew he was "inheriting." I later found out he'd already borrowed against it.
The lawyer read the will. House, savings, everything: Nora.
Dan laughed. Then he stopped, because the lawyer slid an envelope toward me. "She wanted you to open this in front of him."
Inside was a pawn ticket, dated eleven years back. I read the name on it twice before I looked up.
It was Dan's.
So few days ago, our manager told the team we weren’t required to answer work calls or messages after office hours. He said, “Your personal time is yours, and we must respect boundaries.”
Yesterday, he messaged an employee at 8:30 p.m., asking him to correct a report before the next morning’s meeting.
This morning, he asked why the employee hadn’t responded, as he apparently hadn’t opened the chat yet.
20/10/2018… 8 years ago today, I experienced armed robbery, one of the most traumatic nights of my life. 💔
I had just finished secondary school and travelled to Abuja to spend my holiday at my uncle’s house. Those weeks were beautiful. My mum and sisters later joined us for my cousin’s wedding, and the house was filled with relatives, laughter, and wedding preparations.
Then came that night. It was around 2 a.m. I was in my room while some family members were still awake in the parlour when we heard a heavy knock on the gate.
The gateman went to check. The men claimed they were vigilantes who had spotted someone climbing into the compound. He believed them and opened the gate.
Minutes later, they stormed into the parlour.
After then what i heard was:
“Armed robbers! Armed robbers!” 1/2🧵
Kanye and Bianca’s dressing is ridiculous and they’re moving like they know it. She’s serving with zero restraint and he’s right there matching it. Pure mess.
The question is not simply whether Tinubu is better than the alternatives. The question is whether Nigerians are willing to establish standards that every candidate must meet. If we cannot demand evidence, competence, integrity and accountability from those seeking power, we will keep recycling disappointment.
In The Prestige, Angier spends years trying to discover Borden’s secret.
When he finally creates a machine that can seemingly teleport him, he uses it night after night, knowing that every performance ends with a version of himself dying.
And that’s what makes his obsession so disturbing.
Borden sacrifices relationships, family and an ordinary life to protect his secret. Angier sacrifices something far more fundamental: his own humanity, repeatedly, for the sake of beating another man.
But here’s what I find fascinating….. 🧵
HR Accused the Wrong Man of Stealing $25,000
The HR manager at an international company had one strict rule:
Anyone accused of stealing money was immediately suspended.
One Friday, $25,000 disappeared from the company’s payroll account.
HR immediately blamed Michael, an employee who had recently bought a used car.
“His salary cannot explain that purchase,” the manager announced.
Michael was suspended in front of everyone.
His coworkers started gossiping.
“He thought he could get away with it.”
Michael begged HR to investigate the transaction records, but the manager refused.
Three days later, the CEO called an emergency meeting.
HR arrived confidently, carrying Michael’s termination letter.
Then the CEO asked one question.
“Who approved the transfer?”
