@dunn_juliette I have seen people react in negative ways to the end of the chapter, and I'm thinking... everything we learn about Susie indicates that she's never really felt like she belonged ANYWHERE before.

@sorcerers_claw My example's an adaptation of a Pokemon spin-off with Ash and Pikachu in the place of protagonist, so I at least have like. Stuff to work with until I get to that ending. But still I gotta get through so much first!

@LavenderBl1ght @ttrashcatt_ I think it's mostly from a lot of small moments put together? There's also a theory that she's half-human, which often goes hand-in-hand with it and uses a lot of the same moments for support.

@dunn_juliette I haven't done the secret boss yet, but the gameplay alone made this my favorite chapter. It's so much fun.

(also I think I beat the chapter boss everyone says is super hard on my second try?)

@litttens @SIXMARBLES_ That isn't really what I meant, it's not about numbers at all. What I mean is that the "gotta catch 'em all" mindset is opposed to the themes and writing of the show, ESPECIALLY in Kanto.

@SIXMARBLES_ Admittedly, this is a problem Journeys has in general. One of my biggest gripes with Journeys' writing is that Pikachu is HORRIBLY underutilized as a character compared to previous series.

@SIXMARBLES_ The problem is more that completing the dex sort of comes across as treating Pokemon like "things". Goh is shown to not do this, but it still reminds of characters who did and who were treated as wrong for it.

@SIXMARBLES_ On the surface, "collecting" Pokemon is something the show presents as wrong. This ISN'T what Goh does, to be clear: he's shown caring for and spending time with the Pokemon he catches, treating them as friends. But I can see how it looks like it?
