A lot of emotions to work through but I’ll try to stay level-headed.

This hurts because he’s one of us. He’s a Cat. He led us to a Big 12 Championship and got us as close to a national championship game as a QB as anyone in history. Then did the same as an OC. He brought us an incredible kid and QB in Avery. It was like a story book. He’s the QB who comes back as a coordinator who eventually becomes the HC.

But with success comes value and attention. And we could realistically hold off the wolves for only so long. And GOOD ON HIM. I will never fault a man for providing financial security for his family. Who would turn it down? I think if we’re being honest, not many of us.

I don’t know what Avery will do. I know he’s his own person on his own journey and he has to do what’s right for him. And I don’t blame him for any choice he makes either. I won’t presume to speculate because none of us speak for him and he owes nothing to anyone but himself and his family. I do know he’s a GREAT kid. So don’t be jerks about any of this to him regardless of what he ultimately decides. I want him to stay like you all, but that’s not up to us.

But I also know that Chris Klieman is an incredible coach who has built an incredible culture at Kansas State and, while losing Collin (and/or anyone else) sucks, It’s bigger than one person. All great programs are. To assume this will all come crashing down because of any of this is doing a disservice to all the other coaches and staff who give their all to make this program what it is.

So it’s ok to be upset. It’s ok to say it sucks. It does. But step back from the ledge. Keep your head. Don’t hit “post” on that emotional tweet that’s lashing out. Take a breath.

Selfishly, I hate it. But things will be ok.
