I confidently forecast that Trump and his followers will get weirder and weirder the more that they panic

And panic they should, because what's happening is not the end of the world

It's the end of their world

😳 Copa America final. Shocking.

[Karalyn Holden @KaralynWest]

Thread.. (1) I brought our 8yr old to the Copa America final last night & we got caught in the scary masses outside the stadium. When we got to SE Entry gate, there were 1000s of people waiting to get in, gates closed (this was 7pm) As we stood in the 90deg heat, bodies pressed

What an answer this is live and un prepped, even the rhetorical flourishes, repeated phrases, the detail, how he is gentle while describing horrific treatment with brutal clarity. It’s an education

Once again, happy retirement from international competitions @momota_kento and congrats on a fantastic career! 🤝 Can we please play a few matches at the warmup courts so that I can try to make up for our H2H? 😅💯🤞

[Gill Clark aka Oma Gill @OmaGillClark]

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one hoping against hope that @momota_kento would be able to recover from that horrific car accident in Malaysia 4 years ago, to physically regain the form and mentally to rediscover the belief to once again return to his very best. But following the announcement that he will retire from international badminton after the #ThomasCup2024, it appears both the physical and mental trauma of that accident has taken its toll.

At his best Momota was totally dominant. Astute tactical awareness, good in both attack and defence, wonderful touch, especially at the net – he was simply a joy to watch.

For the record: -
⏺️ 2012 World Junior Champion 🥇
⏺️ 2 x World Champion & 3 x World Championship medallist – 2015🥉, 2018🥇, 2019🥇.
⏺️ All England Champion 2019
⏺️ 2 x Asian Champion, 2018🥇, 2019🥇.
⏺️ Winner of 33 career titles from 40 finals.
⏺️ Winner of 18 SS or WT equivalent (WT 500 & above) from 24 finals.
⏺️ 2019 won 11 titles from 12 finals in 16 tournaments played – a record in men’s singles.
⏺️ After his return to international competition in 2017, up until his car accident in 2020, he played 200 matches with a 184-16 W-L record, which included 39 individual tournaments where he reached 29 finals winning 24 titles.
⏺️ Won his first 17 matches in either Thomas Cup or Sudirman Cup.

I for one have missed the Momota of old. But it was always a tall order to recover from the cruel twist of fate that so tragically claimed the life of the driver, and so dramatically and devastatingly affected the career of such a hugely talented individual.

How dearly I would love to have the privilege of commentating on him one last time in #Chengdu.

Very best wishes for the future Kento.

@GaijinMommy I also once found 5000 JPY in one of the automatic charging machines and returned it to the ticket gate. I believe in Karma as I almost lost a lot of stuff in Japan which were properly returned to me afterwards

J sports
