Our Time Machine backup was "corrupted" for years: "The backup disk image could not be accessed," "image not recognized," "no mountable file systems." ~22,000 family photos + 1,200 videos, gone.
I used Grok Bot, an AI assistant that runs commands on your Mac, and got them back fast and easy.
The cause: storing the Time Machine sparsebundle on a NAS network share (SMB). A dropped connection mid-backup left it broken: missing Info.plist, ~280 GB of missing bands.
What Grok Bot did:
• Rebuilt the sparsebundle's Info.plist
• Decrypted the backup read-only with hdiutil
• Ran PhotoRec to carve out every photo and video
• Sorted everything into folders by year

@clownworld Get yourself some electronic rat traps they work great and you won't end up hurting predators that may end up eating the poisoned rats.

@NicholasRundles@XPHOENIXDRAGON Agree with this... I saw this video and didn't bring my birth certificate. I asked if they were digitizing them they said no just need to see it. Saw others getting theirs and all the agents did was look at the docs and hand them back...
