There’s still school today. Students need to get to school; high schoolers have regents today!! Some stuck on trains or packed in the crowds — parents are panicking. This is truly irresponsible to shut downtown mass transit and hold a parade like this on a school day, one that requires 10K cops to keep order.
In a new video, Jo Frost, aka Supernanny, warns that some modern parents are hindering their kids’ independence by choosing short-term convenience over teaching basic life skills.
The Instagram post featuring the video is filled with comments from teachers agreeing with her that it’s a growing concern.

This is so interesting because you also hear a lot of parents complain about how much more demanding parenting is now but this is part of why 😭 it’s more demanding partly because you aren’t making your children be independent! No shit you’re burning out
My parents would have scolded me had I done something like that. Kids don't (and SHOULDN'T) just get anything they want. They need to learn that most things don't belong to them. This was a teachable moment the parents failed to realize.
The reason I banned Bluey from my house is I don’t like the family dynamics or the way the kids talk to their parents, and some of the characters.
The dad seems to always be giving into the kids every whim, and the kids seem to walk all over him, with very little respect paid to him.
Meanwhile the kids think everything is a discussion. There isn’t an instance of “No” or “This is what we’re doing.”, everything seems to be a discussion, every decision the parents make is up for a debate.
One example: Dad tells the kids no ice cream. Muffins dad gets muffin ice cream. Instead of explaining “Well, I’m your dad, I think you’ve had enough sugar, we’re not getting ice cream.” Dad gets the kids ice cream.
Kids also seem to have zero responsibilities. I haven’t seen Bluey or Bingo pick up any toys, clean their room, or do anything that isn’t actively playing.
They don’t help their parents around the house at all.
Finally the show just irritates me. The sounds, colors, the pace, I just find it irritating.
Why do British African immigrants find it hard to comprehend the reality of African Americans? We were enslaved and kept in America for 400 years. Our grandparents didn’t come from Africa. Neither did our great grandparents. I can’t tell if they are playing stupid or that unaware
