Big pictures and big ideas kick off the #uncwaterandhealth conference. Easy to be cynical about 2050 concepts when so many people are struggling still today, but it is important to keep a horizonal view. Still, so much work needs to get done year after year to get there.

Most quality leaders don’t just come up with good ideas.  They learn to get information from all of the critical stakeholders, and figure out how to consolidate that knowledge into unbiased action.

After you listen…learn to communicate.

Practice it, intentionally do it, ask questions, allow for silence, build trust so you can get honesty.

Simple equation, but difficult to get right.  So often leaders focus on direction (vision) of where an organization needs to go, how it will get there, why it is important…

Transferring that direction into sustained energy within a group of people is where the work comes in.  It requires consistency, adaptability, intentionality, and transparency.
