My classmate Suleiman Mohamoud is talking of an incident in our class in Sheikh when we almost left the secondary school. As he rightly mentioned it started with one of us throwing something at the at the European teacher writing something on the blackboard. It was Mohamoud Ahmed Khaawi who did that not Said Abdulqair. And for that Ina Khaawi as he was known was expelled from the School.
What the Principal said which I vividly remember was: “ How dare you treat a European woman like this!!”. This angered us as racist and decided to leave the school in protest. It was the elders from Burco who brought sense to us saying : “ Meselo aad rabto maqaar ayna woo loogu fadhiistaa”. I took that advice. We owe him a lot for changing our minds. We wouldn’t be where we became.

Just a month ago, Cirro the self-declared governor of that one-clan secessionist fantasy stood in Nairobi puffing his chest, claiming ‘We didn’t come with a begging bowl.’ And now look his cousin, Somalia’s Minister of Finance, happily polishing that same bowl and holding it out. As I’ve said time and time again, so-called ‘Somaliland’ is nothing more than an internetpfueled delusion one-clan ego trip with a flag and no grip on reality.
Deeply honored to receive this recognition as “African Woman of the Year” at the Pride of Africa Awards in Beijing. It’s very humbling to be honored by my fellow Africans and I am very grateful.
Proud to witness Somali businesses making history—bringing our products, culture, & entrepreneurial spirit to the Chinese market. In just two days, over 4,800 people visited the Somali Pavilion. Somalia is rising!Grateful for the opportunity to support & be part of this journey.
Not sure if this video is linked to the incident but it captures something powerful. Beautiful Somali youth, not divided by clan, but united in fleeing hardship and hopelessness.
Today’s tragedy is not new. But it should never feel normal.
Somalia needs leaders who feel personally responsible for giving the youth a reason to stay.

Kenya has issued a second statement clarifying on the situation of Somaliland’s liaison office in Nairobi which was reportedly preparing to inaugurate a new building on May 27. Kenya says the event has not been granted approval of its foreign ministry and “does not enjoy the imprimatur” of the Republic of Kenya, and “cannot be allowed to proceed.”
The Somaliland president @Abdirahmanirro is in Nairobi reportedly to inaugurate the new building.
The visit of PM @HamzaAbdiBarre to #LasAnod from April 12 to 15 affirmed that the unity of #Somalia is unshakable and will endure forever, serving as the foundation of national strength and the driving force toward a brighter future.
