"Fish pass" at Annacotty weir; denil design but the baffle boards required to slow the flow so fish can use it are missing. Very high flow velocities in the "pass". High turbulence downstream means that few fish can even find it.

American Mink on the Lower River Shannon. A non-native species but is well-established & probably impossible to eradicate now. Kill one dominant one - and you will get two in the same territory. Keeping Otter populations healthy may be the best approach for controlling Mink.
