@GuyInco15542744@thebookof2chad @CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 And how are you lifting up science to affirm that gender is not a construct, but dismissing the science that says affirming trans people does far more good than harm? Can you be consistent?

@GuyInco15542744@thebookof2chad @CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 1. Gender is literally just society. That's why it's called "a societal construct".
2. How is it destructive to them because the the overwhelming majority of trans folks and science disagree with you. We risk more harm to trans folks by not affirming
@thebookof2chad@GuyInco15542744 @CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 And how do people who can't (or shouldn't) have kids fit into this, assuming that we're actually still commanded to have children?
@thebookof2chad@GuyInco15542744 @CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 The family proc is not even doctrine by the church's own standards and was never ratified as such. Even still, it says nothing about transgenderism. It just says gender is essential and part of our eternal identity and purpose. That doesn't mean transitioning is a sin
@GuyInco15542744@thebookof2chad @CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 1. *They're trying to be a different gender than the one society forces on them. They're embracing their own sense of self rather than someone else's.
2. Destructive to who? And how?
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 God has allowed far worse things to happen on this earth and in the scriptures and Brigham Young himself said that if we were ever led astray "it would be because we ought to be led astray. Because [we] deserved it".
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 You're right, total speculation.
Yeah, I don't got time to talk about Sodom or Jericho or why you're using those stories. What I do know is that how we treat others, especially the marginalized, is ultimately what determines whether we are heaven or hellbound (Matt 25).
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 But it is. We have letters signed by the first presidency that say "the negroes are not entitled to the full blessings of the gospel". And that was taught from the pulpit for over a century, using doctrine we now acknowledge was false
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 Because our practices of marginalizing queer people is not in line with the ethic of the Jesus we claim to follow. On this matter, I'm pretty confident and wouldn't be surprised if the brethren were actually divided on the issue.
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 imply, yes. Make it so, no. We know for a fact the brethren have signed and reaffirmed and been quoted on things that were not in line with God's will.
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 Type "gender is fluid" into google. The first hit is a Harvard article that links to some studies and other resources to get you started.
The church doesn't recognize this for the same reason members still discriminated against Black folks despite having 2 Nephi 26:33 et al
@CertifiedCavemn @WiseSerpent1 The same way the church is founded on doctrine yet flawed and imperfect.
And that's not quite true. What you seem to think the proclamation says isn't actually in our sacred texts
