Congratulations to @elonmusk and the SpaceX team. You did what countless people said was impossible, and you did it time and time again.
Today is your day. You deserve this. May it be a glorious one.

🔥MRS. DR. PUBLIUS ALERT🔥
I am an ardent advocate of our American birthright, especially free speech. In our public squares, every American citizen has a voice - a right to be heard even if you disagree with other people’s opinions/viewpoints and they disagree with you. Law abiding citizens can exercise that right. That’s a good thing - it is quintessentially American. That’s not the case in most countries around the world, even European countries.
However, two American Olympians very publicly aired “their” criticisms of the country they volunteered to represent - pontificating about their political views - that’s something different and well, it ignited a firestorm.
These two incompetent malcontents squandered a priceless gift. What gift you might ask? When in their lifetime will they have another opportunity to represent our whole country (even people with whom they disagree) and stand in the sun and embody their dream? How many people ever get to realize their dream? On the contrary, their actions were shamefully self-serving and frankly ignorant.
They presumably earned a spot on the US Olympic team to participate in the Winter Games because of their highly honed skill set and talents in their individual sport, not their political commentary. It's like they don’t know how to behave when they are away from home - most people try to put their best foot forward and stay positive in someone else’s home. This wasn’t the time or place to air these grievances or concerns because this isn’t the purpose of the Winter Games.
These two probably don’t even realize they actually violated an implied trust with the American people and their teammates. Americans take an oath to defend the Constitution when they join the military because they are representing all US citizens whether they agree with someone’s political views or not. While this isn’t the case with participating on the US Olympic team - perhaps the US Olympic Committee should review its charter and outline in their bylaws the responsibilities and expectations of the members of Team USA.
This American was willing to support and cheer for these two young people as they challenged the world’s best competitors in their individual sport not because of their political views but because of their dream to be a Olympian and foster goodwill amongst nations. What did they do - they made their political opinions the talking point not competing for an Olympic medal. Do that on your own time!
In the real world, if you as an employee represent a corporation at a corporate event; if you wear the company logo on your clothing; if you actively engage with other companies from around the world at this event, then it isn’t about you. Your company didn’t hire you to represent your interests - they hired you to represent theirs. Team USA is representing all of us - the American people. You have an opportunity to shine for your country and to change the world by inspiring others to pursue their dreams - that’s the gift of the Olympic Games and don't selfishly exploit your platform.
And one more thing, while these two were proudly denigrating our country on the world’s stage - I'd like for them to please name ONE country with more freedoms for its citizens than the USA. Where on this planet is this utopia of perfect harmony they seem to believe exists. Let me give you a hint - it doesn’t exist. In different forum truthfully highlight these perceived injustices - open it up for debate instead of whining in a setting where your views can’t to be challenged. You aren’t even grateful for rights, privileges, and rich cultural heritage you were born into by sheer chance. You chose the wrong platform, wrong time, wrong message, wrong forum - next time remain focused on the purpose. Go TEAM USA!
