"All I am saying is that, it is not government's business to try and use ID cards to control people's consumption of porn"

People have no idea about what Ghana once was.
One of the texts that never saw the light of day, in the words of Kwame Nkrumah himself, had do do with his advanced notes for a rich history of precolonial Africa.
Those notes were left behind during his fateful trip to Vietnam and destroyed with his office at Flagstaff House. This is all documented in page 25 of the book "Dark Days in Ghana."
1. Let's take two technical visionaries, one Western and the other African.
2. Towering figures with careers spanning more than half a century.
3. For the US/West, let's go for, say, Gordon Moore, whose "Moore's Law" defined the microchip industry, remade Silicon Valley, and birthed a new world.
4. For Ghana/Africa, shall we settle on Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who sadly passed away today (may his precious soul be kept), and is known for his bold technological and techno-industrial visions wrapped in a rousing pan-Africanism?
5. Adjusting for career span, Moore's technical vision and direct contributions generated roughly 80 billion dollars of value whilst Apostle Safo's came to about 30 million dollars.
6. Much of this is explained away by the GDP ceilings of the markets they chose to work in. But there is a residual difference that I think explains why that GDP ceiling is perhaps as low as it is to begin with.
7. Before I tell you what I personally think, let me put out some common explanations for the low economic output of Ghanaian/African technical visionaries. A. Lack of solidarity (we don't back our own) and when we do, we are not strategic about it; B. Weak policy bedrock for techno-entrepreneurial vision; and C. Global geo- politics oppressing the brand value of what we create in Africa.
8. My own view is that we tend to ignore the most critical factor. It is one phrase: "talent propulsion." Whilst Apostle Safo had grand and fantastic technical visions, his "system" didn't include a robust talent pipeline that aggregates and diffuses economic value.
9. Having observed the African landscape for a long time, I think that's where our visionaries struggle the most: inspiring the smartest to sustain and accelerate their visions.
10. I have put up some charts in this thread on how aggressively the Intel Corp founded by Moore propelled talent aggregation and value creation in sync. Whilst data is harder to find for Apostle Safo's Kantanka, LinkedIn helped. On the whole, only a tiny fraction of former Kantanka engineers, technicians, mechanics, and others show career progression and diffusion into valuable segments of the economy, a proxy for weak talent propulsion. The exact opposite for Intel, whose talent flywheel has positioned thousands of elite technical professionals throughout the eelctronics industry.
11. In short, having set out a technical vision in which the capacity of microchips doubled every 18 months, Moore and Intel had to maintain and grow a pipeline of top talent to keep the pace. Over time, these fast-performing chips created and drove the massive Internet economy. Intel captured billions of dollars of the ensuing value.
12. Apostle Safo also set out massive visions of indigenous technology. He wanted to put Ghana on the frontier. But his vision did not include the kind of moonshot stretch-target that would have compelled a ruthless focus on attracting and motivating the smartest. Ultimately, the economic value created was much smaller.
All said, though, on vision alone, Apostle Safo & Kantanka will definitely make the history books.

President Mahama announces plans to decongest Accra by developing a new city. Selected government offices will be relocated there, with the new administrative hub connected to Accra by an expressway and a railway line.

Reading Numbers and realizing how much Israel kept complaining about Moses saving them from slavery, Reminds me of how some Ghanaians complained about Nkrumah after he rescued Ghana from colonization.
@eagleyez7@JoyNewsOnTV Sincerely wagyimi wagyimi, youโre a big fool. Youโre part of GH problems! Always looking for reasons to do something illegal !
$ to cedi exchange rates means nothing to a self reliant country, we just made it more expensive to do business in GH and made it cheaper to continue to import goods and be reliant on other countries. Letโs study why China manipulates its currency to keep the US buying from them.
What is more important?
1. Accumulating physical gold reserves, with a dollar to cedi exchange rate of GHS16?
or
2. Accumulating adequate forex liquidity through unprecedented gold exports, with a dollar to Cedi exchange rate of GHS12.2?
Alhaji Bawumia must answer this simple question.

It wasnโt so for H.E Nana Addo.
You people better do the right thing. Thankyou.
