I’m honestly floored at the agenda many network talking heads are pushing regarding the G5 teams.

We can all agree the current system is broken, but that’s largely thanks to the conferences and tv structure that were set up BY YOUR EMPLOYERS.

They conveniently sweep results like Tennessee’s massacre last year at Ohio State under the rug while tweeting that “JMU should play at their appropriate level”

Conference and TV execs went too fast making back-room deals and now the toothpaste is out of the tube. So what do they do? Throw the “little guy” under the bus, per usual.

Do I think that two G5 teams deserved to be in? No. Tulane wasn’t a championship-caliber team by Sumrall’s own admission. But that was the system we were given.

I also don’t think it’s logical to eliminate G5 teams from playing in the playoff. No other sport excludes part of their league based on paper projections. As much as they try to convince you otherwise, college football would not benefit from being different.

There’s not a perfect solution; there will never be a perfect solution thanks to the corporate greed ruining the sport. We flew by an 8-team playoff. We’re dead set on auto bids to protect average conferences, etc.

But to try and marginalize JMU, Tulane, and whoever comes next for maximizing their opportunity is hilariously shortsighted and incredibly biased.

College football is the best, but it’s clear that “college football” is being viewed as a tool to make careers and bank accounts rather than respected for the historic institution that it is. #CFBPlayoff
