@cliffski True enough, but they have made massive headway. 2022 they lost ~$140k/vehicle, 2023 brought that down to ~$30k/vehicle. Shutting down this month for weeks to make significant upgrades to the production line.
IDK that it's enough to profit, but they're not "just adding models."
@cliffski Otherwise, I'd probably be working on a farm. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course, but it is decidedly not something I'd prefer to do.
In fact, we might not have ever had the "green revolution" and where would we be then?
@cliffski Other jobs that were marginal now become more common. Really we should be celebrating no longer having to do these shitty jobs (or paying too much for the work output). Just like how I'm glad every day for the Enlightenment, which made computers and my job possible.
@SciGuySpace "But it’s a lazy take that completely misses the point."
The entire job of a journalist is professionally providing context and understanding to people who do not have the time or training to do so themselves.
This was a failure of journalism, way worse than "lazy."
@SecretaryPete@PeteButtigieg Did you know NHTSA has data and analysis showing amber turn signals reduce crashes ~5%, but does not mandate them? Is there a reason? Seems like low-hanging fruit to improve public safety. https://t.co/Y6PqvcE2jS
@cliffski PE ratio totally disconnected from reality. Not saying it won't grow into it, it might! However, definitely not a safe investment. SpaceX likely a better bet today.
@christogrozev Tracking down sources to find the original is literally something i used to do in high school (info often mangled along the way). How are journalists not required to do the same before publishing a piece? It's not difficult.
@dangoodin001 know anyone that might care about the fact that you can't actually read Facebook's Workplace privacy policy? Searching finds this with broken SSL: https://t.co/9nHodNWFLe
Actual terms: https://t.co/o02gD2MsMa
Those have a broken link to here: https://t.co/AsjevkQtej
@cliffski Awesome news!! Also very glad you wrote it up, so hopefully others can learn the process from your experience and things go more smoothly for everyone. :)
@cliffski Physics? Seemed fine for strategy games and casual fare.
I always thought the problem was technical, but not on the customer facing side. Why would a dev spend a bunch of time porting to a brand new platform with no users? Worse, it's Linux, but it's not even Proton!
@cliffski You should look up the NYT article on it. It hits basically where it's needed most (non grads with college debt). No policy is ever perfectly targeted, but i wouldn't call this one "badly designed"unless you're strictly paying attention to PR value and I'd even question that.
@cliffski@arowx Open it up to the community maybe? Bring people in for tours, discuss climate change, and call them to action in a small concrete way by taking just a few minutes to write a letter then and there. Make it clear this is YOUR way of doing something and they could be a part of it.
