I just watched Christopher Nolan’s #TheOdyssey and I left the cinema with a deep sense of disappointment.
I entered expecting Homer’s world to breathe: salt in the air, darkness over the sea, gods watching from a distance, and a wounded man struggling to return home. Instead, ancient Greece vanished beneath a cold and generic Hollywood spectacle.
The characters felt like modern actors wearing ancient costumes. The dialogue had no poetry, the casting carried none of the story’s identity, and the deepest themes of exile, loyalty, grief and homecoming were buried beneath noise and expensive images.
Because The Odyssey is not really about monsters. The Cyclops, the Sirens and the storms are only the visible dangers. The true journey takes place within Odysseus himself. It asks whether a man can lose his companions, his youth, his name and twenty years of his life, yet still return without losing the person he once was.
That is why the story has survived for almost 3,000 years. Every human being is trying to return to something: a home, a love, an identity, or the self they were before life changed them.
A $250 million production somehow made one of humanity’s greatest meditations on memory, mortality and belonging feel empty. Hollywood borrowed Homer’s name and prestige, but abandoned the soul that made his story immortal.
This was not The Odyssey. It was a monument to money, arrogance and the belief that spectacle can replace meaning.
@castlelitesa I bought my first lot of Castle Light Draught and my verdict, and that of those around me, is that it is what we used to call "sex in a canoe". In other words, f...ing close to water. Horrible stuff You missed the boat this time.
Seems like Norway's Erling Haaland doesn't really believe in the low-fat, "Prudent", "heart healthy", high carbohydrate, "Mediterranean", "athletic" diet. He must be the modern dietitian's absolute worst nightmare.
Allegedly this is what he eats:
"What's on the plate: - Beef heart and beef liver, by choice, from the butcher - Tomahawk, ribeye, short ribs, the fattier the better - Eggs, most mornings, on sourdough - Salmon, mackerel, sea bass - Raw milk, by the glass, in the coffee, blended with greens - Raw honey - Butter, rice, sourdough - His dad's lasagne before every home game. A kebab pizza once a year, if he's lucky What never touches it: - Seed oils - Fizzy drinks - Alcohol, near enough none - Protein powders and processed supplements. Not one - Ultra-processed anything - Tap water. He filters it The official guidance spent fifty years telling you to fear that plate. The best striker alive built it on purpose and is knocking the five-time champions out of a World Cup with it".
The sixth anniversary of the WHO's 2020 declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Since then, the pandemic reshaped life as we knew it, from lockdowns and travel bans to the rapid rollout of vaccines and largest transfer of wealth in history.
The pandemic has resulted in 7.1 million confirmed deaths globally as of February 2026 (WHO data)
Excess mortality studies estimate 15-20 million total accelerated by mRNA vaccine tech in peer reviewed analyses from The Lancet.
No Govt is coming to save you they all want you sick and depopulated.
@KeenanPeachy On a recent flight I happened to watch a movie called Song Sung Blue about a Neil Diamond impersonator. Never liked Neil Diamond but this movie was great and the impersonator sang better than the original.
