🧐 Scientists Still Don’t Know What these Proteins do in the Cell

These nano-sized protein structures which are present in our cells are absolutely fascinating. They are called Vault proteins. Their molecular structure appears as if God used nano-sized molecular crochet hooks to create these 3-dimensional masterpieces.

To understand how phenomenal this is, it’s important to realize that when proteins are synthesized in the cell, they are synthesized as a long linear strand, like a string. That means this Vault protein resulted from the self-assembly of individual strands that “folded” in 3-dimensional space into this specific shape.

These structures are the largest known ribonucleoprotein structures in the cell. They are 3 times larger than a ribosome. Even so, they are still incredibly small. This structure is only 30 nanometers in diameter, and 60 nanometers in length. A nanometer is 1 billionth of a meter. If you zoom into the structure, the tiny points are individual atoms.

The outer shell consists of 78 copies of a protein called Major Vault Protein (MVP). MVP proteins assemble together and fold into a cylindrically symmetrical geometry to form this structure.

There are also 2 other proteins on the inside of the Vault, and several RNA molecules.

Scientists are still conducting research to determine the function of Vault proteins in the cell. The leading theory is that Vault acts as a very large cargo container and can carry a variety of different proteins and molecules to different parts of the cell.

Some scientists have theorized that Vault can move cargo from the nucleus of the cell across the cytoplasm. It’s also believed that Vault proteins play a role in drug resistance, nuclear pore assembly, mRNA localization, and innate immunity.

Took me almost a full week, but I’ve finally finished the Fauci Diaries. It is a look inside the state/corporatist system possibly without precedent. It doesn’t provide the entire picture of events but it is remarkably candid.

The first spin on this book is partially correct: it’s an exercise in vanity. True. But there is much more here. It’s the story of the descent of a soul at every stage of decline: social climbing, egomania, megalomania, duplicity, self deception, intensifying levels of malice, exhaustion using courtiers as salve, and ending in total defeat realized only inchoately.

Reading it is a remarkable experience. It’s obviously not well written but that is a strength, a bit like how the “Blair Witch Project” is scarier due to its low budget. It’s raw and painful, alarming and shocking, and ultimately speaks to much more than the life of the author. It’s really a window into systemic corruption of nearly all the commanding heights of society itself, and offers a devastating indictment of the ruling class in government, media, science, and industry.

Does Fauci catch on that the media is using him as much as he is using them, that is, that he inhabited a world of fakery? Maybe but he decides early on that it is only choice. He has to keep it up else his whole world crumbles. This Icarus just kept flapping his wings without realizing that they were melting.

Another feature that stands out: It was always political theater and never about science. Multiple times, Fauci overrides evidence in favor of messaging toward his preferred political and industrial end.

Then you have this strange and persistent obsession of Fauci of maintaining social position with daily infusions of assurance that he is great, loved, admired, admitted to all the right parties, attended all the best events, with a contacts list that included the world’s rich, famous, and powerful. This is all he had to assure himself of his grand life. Even in the end, he does not seem to realize the role he played in upending the very system to which he so desperately wanted to belong.

Yes, nearly every page makes me angry but finishing it leaves me with something I had not expected; something like the sadness you feel in a Gothic novel when a promising life takes a terrible turn toward perdition and somehow cannot find the escape from that path.

The Picture of Dorian Grey also comes to mind. Fauci guarded his reputation as a scientist just as Dorian guarded his seeming youth. To do so required a costly exchange. In both stories, the status of the soul (represented by the painting for Dorian) belies appearances.

Nowhere could he have anticipated during the writing of the book that six years after his apotheosis that he would be trapped in a chair in a Senate chamber, ashen and defeated, surrounded by silent lawyers, his accusers on all sides, pleading the 5th amendment 111 times.

The gun is the most misunderstood object in Western civilization. Not a weapon. A technology. The technology that made the idea of equality physically real.

1. The longbow democratized warfare – a peasant could kill a knight with a stick and a string, and Agincourt proved it. The gun completed the process. The armored warrior class whose claim to social dominance rested on physical superiority became obsolete. The aristocratic monopoly on violence ended not with a philosophy but with a mechanism. The gun is the physical enforcement of the idea that all men are created equal. Which is why the American founders put it in the second amendment – not as an afterthought, but as the guarantee of everything else.

2. The Roman citizen had the right to bear arms. The Greek citizen had it. The English yeoman had it. The Swiss canton built its entire civilization on it. The disarming of the population has always been, in every civilization, in every century, the first act of the government that intends to stop being answerable to that population. Show me a disarmed population and I will show you a population that lost something else shortly after.

3. The Second Amendment is not about hunting. It is not about sport. It is about the relationship between the armed citizen and the state – the explicit constitutional acknowledgment that the citizen’s right to defend himself, his family, and his civilization against any threat, including the government itself, is not granted by the state and cannot be revoked by it. Power flows upward from the armed citizen, not downward from the armed state.

4. The gun defends the family. The woman alone with her children. The farmer on the edge of civilization. The shopkeeper in the neighborhood the police no longer patrol. The gun is the equalizer – the technology that makes the physical difference between a large man and a small woman irrelevant. Every argument for disarmament is, at its core, an argument that the state will protect you better than you can protect yourself. The evidence for this proposition is not encouraging.

5. In Europe, the disarmament is now nearly complete – and it happened precisely as the state’s ability and willingness to protect its citizens began to decline. The timing is not coincidental. A population that cannot defend itself must trust the state to defend it – which is a population that cannot effectively question whether the state is doing so. The dependency is the design.

6. The gun is a civilizational technology in the deepest sense: it requires responsibility, judgment, and the willingness to accept the consequences of your decisions. You cannot outsource it. You cannot have a committee fire it. It is the most anti-bureaucratic object ever invented – a direct, personal, consequential instrument that puts the full weight of the decision on the individual holding it. Which is precisely why the administrative state finds it intolerable. Not because it is dangerous. Because it is sovereign.

7. The family that can defend itself does not depend on the state for its most fundamental security. The civilization that can defend itself has not yet outsourced its survival to an institution that will negotiate the terms of that survival on its own behalf. The gun determines who controls violence – and therefore who controls everything that violence can threaten. Which is everything. The Sobieski who rode down the hill had a sword and sixty thousand horsemen. The equivalent today is the armed citizen who understands what he is defending and why. Every civilization that forgot this discovered it the hard way. The ones that remembered it are still here.

Before the Assyrian Christian Genocide of 1915 an Assyrian Christian woman from Tkhuma, Hakkari (present-day Turkey)—one of the last generations to live freely in her ancestral homeland.

Between 1914 and 1924, more than 70% of the Assyrian Christians of Hakkari were systematically killed. The survivors were forced into exile, fleeing to the Nineveh Plains, Urmia, and beyond—ending an Assyrian presence in Hakkari that had endured for thousands of years.

But Hakkari was only one part of a much larger tragedy.

Across the Ottoman Empire—in Mosul, Urmia, Siirt, Diyarbakir, Adana, Mardin, Tur Abdin and Beirut—entire regions were devastated

Eyewitnesses spoke of rivers running red and wells filled with bodies.

Villages were burned.
Churches were desecrated.

In the spring of 1915, a storm of violence swept across the empire.
This was not random.
This was not temporary.

The Christian Assyrians, Armenians, Greeks, and Maronites—ancient peoples rooted in faith, language, and identity—were targeted for annihilation.

The complexity and sophistication of our immune system is off the charts. Our immune system can be divided into two categories: innate immunity and adaptive immunity.

We are born with innate immunity, which is hardwired into our genetic code, and provides our body with a rapid defense response from the time we are born.

One component of our innate immunity is mediated by a class of proteins termed Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRRs). PRRs can recognize specific molecular features and patterns that are associated with foreign invaders, such as bacteria and virus.

A particular subclass of PRRs are the proteins known as the Toll Like Receptors (TLRs). The human genome encodes a variety of different TLRs, each having a unique ability to recognize a specific pattern that is associated with pathogens.

Humans have 10 different TLR proteins that are expressed on the surface of a variety of different types of immune cells and epithelial cells. The image below is a molecular model of Toll Like Receptor 4, which recognizes a certain molecule associated with bacteria called lipopolysaccharides.

The red portion of the model is the lipopolysaccharide which is bound to the TLR. Each of the 10 different TLR proteins recognize a different feature associated with foreign pathogens (for example, TLR5 recognizes the molecular patterns associated with the bacterial flagella)

After the TLR binds to the bacterial or viral molecule it is tuned to recognize, it forms a dimer (meaning that two TLRs come together), and this dimerization initiates a signal that is amplified in the immune cell.

This signal initiates a program in the immune cell, which involves activating genes that are associated with the host defense and the inflammatory response. This complex set of events, when executed, results in clearing of the foreign pathogen.

Pattern Recognition Receptors, like the TLR proteins, are able to discriminate between self and a foreign invader. That’s a pretty sophisticated trick.

This system is absolutely necessary for survival from day one. Without this system in place, we would die within days of being born from just the normal bacteria that are present in our environment.

Arizona law already required proof of citizenship for local and state elections plus monthly noncitizen checks. Hobbs and Adrian Fontes refused. They protected the invasion.

America First Legal dragged all 15 counties into court. Now those counties are finally working with DHS to verify every registrant who never proved citizenship.

They had to be sued into following the rule of law.
