@Barb_Here@moebius_strip most people in the UK use circulated hot water for heating, easy to have a heat pump to heat the water, but not for cooling! ductless heat pumps would be fine (the govt have belated realised)
@cjsnowdon The man's an idiot, claiming he's doing it for children when he's committing us to putting the kids to bed in daylight and dragging them to school in the dark. Trade unions must've insisted on it for some reason.
@dieworkwear I thought it was the widespread adoption of coal for heating (and the associated dirt) that made the UK switch from bright colours to greys and blacks.
@cjsnowdon Waste of time. Here in Vancouver its feels like a make work project for the homeless, rooting through the recycling bins like Victorian mudlarks.
@duncanrobinson How much should the average person expect to get from the state over their lifetime? Perhaps only a little more than they pay in, paid for by taxes not on individuals? Old people may have done unusually well, but are the rest of us really being screwed?
@amateuradam is it not rather irresponsible to undermine public support for the 'rule of six' by claiming there is a special exemption for grouse shooting, when this isn't really the case?
