I do think you need to slow your role here.
…why? Because I don’t even need to take an exception to the WCF to hold my view.
First off, The Bible is clear that its objects used in worship.
I don’t think Q107-110 (with emphasis on 109) prohibits images not expressly used in the public or private worship of Christians.
If we take the view that it does, then you cannot even draw an image of an elephant or lion or any animal anywhere (“any creature whatsoever”) for any reason. That is ridiculous and the divines clearly meant for Q109 to only apply to worship itself. As did God on Sinai.
A Sunday school coloring page of Jesus isn’t a violation of Q109, nor is a stained glass window.
A pastor turning towards an image of Jesus, or an elephant, while performing any duty as ministor, and/or directing the congregation towards said images of Jesus or elephant, IS a violation of Q109 (“all worshiping of it”).
I’m excited to share the release of Westminster Reader— a clean, focused app for reading and studying the Westminster Standards.
The app includes:
• Westminster Confession of Faith
• Westminster Shorter Catechism
• Westminster Larger Catechism
• Full offline KJV proof texts
• Searchable prooftexts
• Flash cards
• Reading plans
• Bookmarks
• Light and dark reading themes
My hope is that this app will make the Standards easier to read, search, study, and return to again and again.
Westminster Reader is available now.

Since this happened, the Braves have gone (9-2) and have outscored their opponents 71-37. They’ve also hit .358 with RISP and have allowed 2 runs or fewer 6 times in 11 games.
If the PCA allows even one church to have functional women officers, then it’s a whole PCA problem. Every elder is responsible to practice oversight of the General Church (the denomination), the presbytery, and their local congregations. That’s what Presbyterian polity is supposed to provide - Accountability and oversight.
So yes, it is your problem. It’s my problem too.
Whether you’re PNW or Calvary, Christ Pres. Mobile or Spanish River, it’s your problem.
I know I am the minority. However, it is clear that the early church fathers were split on this and interestingly became more in favor as Rome Christianized and the nature of the Trinity was more firmly understood after the First C. of Nicaea. You have to at least acknowledge this (and yes you can hold my view and still reject the Second Council of Nicaea as I do).
So, I don’t think this is an issue that should bind the consciousness of believers in and of itself. As a Pastor and leader of your church, it’s fine to say no images within scope of your ministry (and the congregation should rightly submit to your view because you have been placed in authority over them). I would hold this view and happily submit to you in yours if I attended there. I’m just arguing on principle. It’s in that effort that I do not care to convict the numerous volunteers throughout the PCA that have helped a two year old color a page into thinking that they caused a two year old to sin.
So, we can be at peace here.
I can’t tell you what a blessing a church family is when you hit tough times. Tomorrow morning, I’m heading into what I hope will be the last step of my cancer treatment – – surgery to resect my colon.
On the way into church, a staff pastor sees me, remembers tomorrow’s the day, and then realizes that I have not put our names on the prayer list. Just an oversight on my part. But he reassures me that he’s going to get it taken care of.
Later this evening, I receive a call from one of our elders, confirming that our church’s 90-person prayer team will be covering me as I head into my procedure tomorrow. Then he prays with me himself. Such a comfort.
There is nothing more beautiful on earth than Christ’s bride, the church, in action.
Atlanta, one of the largest trucking markets, is experiencing a mini capacity crunch with rejections above 12%.
This is the highest level since the start of the freight recession in March 2022. A sign that excess capacity is out of the market or just another head fake?
@JohnStSomething I’d be interested in you expounding. Taking communion should be done early. Governing the church should not be. The only solution that I see modeled in the Bible is leaders of households…well…leading.
@PCAByFaith Being here illegally, whether by unlawful entry or a lapsed visa is a blatant violation of the 5th commandment, especially when the government is not aggressively anti-Christian currently. Thus, the TE has disqualified himself and needs to seek repentance
The PCA’s magazine @PCAByFaith published an article arguing for the usefulness of masks and social distancing for the next pandemic…
