So disappointing to see the lack of political will now in Birmingham for safer streets.
After questions from Babiker Yahia, whose 4-year-old daughter Mayar was killed by a driver in April 2024, only one candidate (after a pause) backed 20mph limits on all residential streets.
Back in 2017 we said we’d get this done. Plenty doubted it.
But once the funding was secured in 2021, it was never in doubt.
Good to see it finally delivered, thanks to everyone who played a part to bring trains back to the Camp Hill line after more than 80 years.

Fresh analysis shows that cuts to libraries, day centre closures and other cuts were likely unnecessary as Birmingham City Council underestimated its reserves by more than £1bn. Please sign our petition (in comments) calling for a Public Inquiry.

We have all watched in horror as Israel crosses red line after red line in Gaza. If you agree please share this post on, help us send this message across social media, then contribute a picture to our powerful visual at https://t.co/4iPuTLluUc
Let’s speak out, in our masses, right now. #RedLineForGaza #Gaza
Suddenly, something is shifting.
Israel's apologists have realised that a reckoning is coming.
They understand that they're not going to get away with this abomination.
And they are absolutely right 👇

Our campaign for a transformative green park at Smithfield, in the heart of Birmingham started in April 2015. Publicly owned, comparable in size to parks in great cities around the world (eg St James Park in London), this was Birmingham’s opportunity to create a flexible…(1/3)
Please circulate on social media. Planned cuts to Harborne Library would reduce it to only three days a week, no Saturday or late night opening, and uncertainty over the future of the building. Local primary schools will suffer greatly if these cuts are made. @James4Harborne
Media coverage of the final day of Harborne Day Centre. @BhamCityCouncil is unfit for purpose and profoundly disabled people are paying the price for @BrumLabour incompetence.

Simply unacceptable treatment of President Zelenskyy by Trump & Vance - it’s beneath the office of the U.S Presidency. Trump hits a new low. @ZelenskyyUa#Ukraine 🇺🇦
“Anyone who cares for a democratic world order… should side with Ukraine”
George Monbiot says we should support Ukraine in defending itself, and says Trump’s call to Putin is “direct appeasement”

Ukraine has fought too hard for its freedom, only to have its future dictated by Putin and Trump behind closed doors.
Any peace must guarantee Ukraine’s sovereignty and security on terms acceptable to Ukrainians, not just to Moscow and Mar-a-Lago.
On the fifth anniversary of Brexit,
2016: We'd be better off with Brexit
2016: The sun has risen on an independent UK
2023: Brexit has failed
2023: We were more competitive in the EU
2024: Our democracy feels dead
End this economic self harm, rejoin the EU
Not only does Bennu contain all 5 of the nucleobases that form DNA and RNA on Earth and 14 of the 20 amino acids found in known proteins, the asteroid’s amino acids hold a surprise

The UK’s first ever road safety commissioner has been appointed by @MayorWestMids and @WestMids_CA I’ve done a lot of filming with Mat and @for_birmingham as they’ve campaigned for safer streets; and Mat's frequently been at the "coalface" of the issue...
“Afghan women have felt ignored by the world while the Taliban has systematically stripped their rights away day after day. This step by ICC is a good start. Afghan women/girls are owed full justice for Taliban crimes and an end, now, to Taliban abuses.” https://t.co/ZassjmU09V
