I know we live in a heavily car-dependent country, but framing the ability to eat rest-stop food in your car as a defining national triumph is incredibly bleak.
New pipeline to west coast that reduces US reliance. Southern route, Indigenous ownership. Industrial price on carbon. 75% methane reduction. Major investments in carbon capture.
And importantly, cooperation. Finding paths forward that work for BC, Alberta and all of Canada.
This is what Mark Carney ran and won on. This is how you grow the economy, protect the environment, and strengthen our place in the world.
Proud to stand next to my Alberta caucus colleagues as this announcement was made.
“america is a great country because it’s so convenient to eat in your car while making a phone call” is like something a too heavy parody character in a godard film would say
I wish Canada, Prime Minister @MarkJCarney, and all Canadians a Happy Canada Day. Ukraine joins you in celebrating this day. We appreciate Canada’s leadership in helping us protect the lives of our people across many domains: defense assistance, pioneering work on sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet and financial sector, diplomatic advocacy, and much more. We are grateful that we can count on your continued support in all these areas. Thank you, Canada!
Happy Canada Day. It's an imperfect country, as every country is, but not a day goes by that I don't count myself as lucky and blessed to be a Canadian, surrounded by Canadians.
@Graff2023 Protectionism doesn't make you stronger. In a mature economy, it simply taxes consumers and competitve industries to subsidize uncompetitive ones. It kills innovation. Not an opinion, but fact backed up by economic history.
@jcorriv35 In 1983, I was 18 and worked at Avis at YVR. I backed a rep's 78 into a deep ditch. Airport tow truck got it out with the RCMP watching. Now muddy, I ran it through the wash before driving it up to the airport to get it to her. She never knew, tipped me $2.
@CoreyLewis86 The local dealer here, part of a Subaru dealership, never even put up a sign, just a banner. The last time I drove by there was no inventory on the lot, just a couple of stragglers obviously in for service (or abandonment).
They just continue to insist that there are massive crowds showing up to this thing despite the fact that this is also the 200th anniversary of the invention of the camera. https://t.co/xFmP4YGodN
