A new video has emerged showing how passengers escaped after a GMOU bus slid into a gorge near Bhadalikhal, between Dugadda and Gumkhal in Pauri district, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday.

The bus, carrying around 30 passengers from Kotdwar to Pauri and Srinagar, rolled back and went off the road after its pressure pipe reportedly burst. A tree stopped it from falling further.

Three lives lost, one fighting for hers: Haldwani’s Teenpani flyover crash leaves families shattered

On Friday afternoon, around 3:25 pm, a Ford Figo carrying four teenagers was speeding on the Teenpani flyover in Haldwani, Nainital, heading from Golapul towards Lalkuan. According to police, the driver tried to overtake another car at high speed, lost control, and the car flipped several times before crashing into the divider.

Utkarsh and Siddhant died on Friday. Pranjal died in hospital on Saturday. A 16-year-old girl travelling with them is still being treated for serious injuries.
Siddhant and Utkarsh studied together at coaching and dreamt of clearing the JEE and becoming engineers. Siddhant had told his mother he was going out to meet his friend. Pranjal’s father is a professor in Bhimtal, and his elder brother serves in the Air Force. Utkarsh’s family had moved from Bageshwar to Haldwani about a year ago for his future, and his father had recently bought a new car.
Today, three homes are in mourning, and one family waits outside a hospital ward.

Behind every such crash is a question no parent wants to ask: how did a car end up in the hands of teenagers, and why was it moving that fast? A few seconds of speed can take away a lifetime of dreams.

A 20-year-old man from Jammu and Kashmir was swept away by the strong current of the Saryu river near the Kapkot bridge in Bageshwar, Uttarakhand on Tuesday, and saved in a joint rescue by police, NDRF and local residents.

Mohammad Ashraf, from Chisana village in Reasi district, was washing clothes near the bridge around 11 am when his foot slipped and he fell into deep water.

A local resident, Raja Shahi from Aso, alerted Kapkot police. On SP Jitendra Mehra’s instructions, a team led by the Kapkot SHO rushed to the spot with rescue equipment, and together with the NDRF and villagers, pulled him out in tough conditions.

He was admitted to the Community Health Centre in Kapkot, where doctors say he is stable and out of danger.
