@SFBART I like the new fare gates, but at least one at each access point needs to be locked in each direction (in/out). I've missed trains because people exiting swarm every available gate and won't let you in!
PS: It doesn't help that the scanners are painfully slow.
@Cat_Ho I just read your article on the UC Davis study of the Berkeley Healthy Checkout ordinance. This study and article boil down to 'stores obey the law' π±. The science isn't wrong, but, contrary to the author's quotes, it is beyond useless without sales data.
@OaklandBallers Why was this change made? The 18th St entrance made so much more sense. The street is wider, the sidewalks are complete, it's closer to Prescott Market and the rest of the neighborhood. Could we at least be allowed to exit to 18th? 20th felt dangerously crowded when leaving.
@JayzTwoCents I'm honestly astounded at how fast Steve destroyed the mountain of credibility he had built with me and how much Linus has rebuilt. His initial response is similar to Linus' back in '23, but unlike LMG, Steve clearly doesn't have anyone close to him telling him to stop and listen
@GamersNexus Speaking directly to @GamersNexus - I watch both LTT and GN content. In Aug '23, GN was in the right and LTT was in the wrong. LTT took it and reformed. The roles are now reversed. LTT is right to call you out this time and has the receipts. You need to take this with humility.
@PillCosbyDofus@GamersNexus Linus was pointing out that it would have been anti-consumer of him to tell people to stop using a tool that was (2 years ago) still believed to save the user money, regardless of the impact to him or other creators. Suggesting that he was talking about the present is inaccurate.
@PillCosbyDofus@GamersNexus Rewatch the WAN show itself, not GN's cut. There is a huge distinction between Honey being a bad deal for just creators (which is all LTT was aware of) and Honey being a bad deal for users as well (which wasn't revealed until recently).
@JayzTwoCents Pretty good. If I might make a suggestion: Glenfarclas 25. Excellent price to performance. One of their Family Cask bottles from a special year makes a great gift too. π
@theironlord@JayzTwoCents Renting anything on a non-temporary basis makes no sense. It can only be made a win-win by spreading the cost of a single item across multiple users. Returning either between uses (car rental) or before 100% depreciation (car lease)
@zazuch1@theironlord@JayzTwoCents Even rent to own makes no sense. Because you're still paying double the total amount of money. They're just preying on people's financial illiteracy and desire for instant gratification.
@JayzTwoCents A completely tone deaf response, and flat out factually incorrect to boot.
@NZXT: "No, you're a scam because you didn't talk about X,Y, & Z!"
@GamersNexus: **spent 30 minutes explaining why X, Y, and Z are all actually scams**
