@RantyHighwayman It takes a while of reading through it but in amongst the dross, waffle, clichรฉs and 'anecdata' are one or two more sensible voices.
But yes, the standard horrific waste of time in most respects.
There's a scam ToB website out there trying to link through to "buy tickets" for the race and to place bets on it. It was using old ToB stages and maps to appear legit. I've reported it a couple of times now.
@nedboulting @TourofBritain@millarmind Correction. What I took to be a history of the Tour of Britain on the race website is actually a ticket sales website. The text is indeed full of huge gaps and inaccuracies though. Apparently no British rider has won it since Bill Nickson in 1976. Can you guess the true answer?
@jackthurston @gazza_d That's the philosophy of Active Travel England too. Do a couple of schemes very well (way better than anything done previously) rather than scattering funds around piecemeal to lots of small but ultimately not very transformational schemes.
@gazza_d @ericonabike It'd be quite funny to weight comments in consultations by cross referencing to FB.
Mentions of road tax, helmets, lycra etc means your view gets progressively downgraded for general stupidity.
@ColdWarCliff Ah the standard "we're very much in favour of safer cycling..."
/proposal is put forward by council
Not like that! Not there! Not in that way!
This approach can also be used for bus lanes, any sort of traffic reduction idea and many pedestrian safety schemes too.
@tricyclemayor @RantyHighwayman Funny how cost is never an issue when it comes to the hundreds of millions of ยฃ on redesigning a motorway junction to shave 30" off the average time through it....
