@AllieRenison@Dot_E_Fresh Reminiscent of the summer 2015 migrant surge across Europe, specifically into Germany - at that point the likelihood of Brexit jumped significantly IMO
Good news that VAT will be cut on electricity bills. It’s a simple way for families to save a few quid, and to mechanically help to keep inflation that little bit lower.
But the DigitalID program was unfunded.
The government will have to set out how it will pay for its new policies at the budget.
Incredibly sad news to hear about Matthew. Brought the spirit of the room up, a fantastic campaigner and most importantly a lovely and solid bloke. It was a pleasure to campaign for and be around him. RIP and all thoughts and prayers to his family.
@MartinMonmouth@afneil I'm not entirely sure what the fuss is. I was there. Seemed pretty standard PMQs knockabout. Not sure "spiteful" is an especially unparliamentary intervention.
What's really revealing is that Liz Kendall was furious a public poll of teachers was mentioned at PMQs.
Was there a specific reason why the poll should have been embargoed, national security perhaps?
So using this logic:
The meal I cooked last night that the state didn’t manage to tax me for was me benefiting from a tax break.
The clothes I’m wearing that the state hasn’t yet managed to tax me for is me benefiting from a tax break.
Using X..wait..don’t give them ideas!
Note to all the pearl-clutching Tories out in force today…
You don’t HAVE to send your kids to private school. We have universal education provision in this country.
If you *choose* to do so, the rest of us shouldn’t pay for you to have a tax break for the privilege.
"I grew up on a council estate" is not an excuse for failure. You are sacrificing the future of generations of kids on the altar of your class envy -reversing even Labour's academy reforms.
0% of teachers think you're doing a great job. I'm not here to give you a pat on the back.
I speak for those people whose lives you're destroying and I'll NEVER stop speaking up for them.
Pathetic.
The only people to mention @bphillipsonMP background are Labour MPs. @KemiBadenoch didn't say a word because it's irrelevant.
What matters is what she is doing as education secretary. And that is indeed both spiteful and destructive.
@DavidLammy Nobody mentioned her background but you lot. Kemi Badenoch didn’t touch on the subject. And for the record nobody can recall your outrage when Rayner called the Tories ‘scum.’
@reporterboy@RachelGilmourLD The 2010-15 exchanges got incredibly personal on both sides. Not an eyelid was batted then. The gnashing of teeth from the lefty bubble today is revealing.
@RachelGilmourLD Well you’ve not been there long. You should have seen the Opposition 2019-2024. Branded an entire party scum. One of them called for a Tory to be lynched. But sure calling an incompetent minister and spiteful class warrior a spiteful class warrior and incompetent is proper bad 🙄
@christopherhope@GBNEWS Sorry, really? Watched & listened to the whole exchange; it was usual PMQ back & forth, is it because the bubble is feeling sorry for Starmer post resignation that the groupthink has decided what KB said was beyond the pale?
