@telegraph_sport @julianlinden Absolute farce that winning an appeal meant you were just 'up for reselection' after the whole thing being dragged out for months. Careers ruined by @FavierMatt@HockeyAustralia. Time the Hockey Australia board was held accountable for this shit show.
@Craig_Boyne@HockeyAustralia A team who for 10 years felt they couldn't speak up about toxic culture, bullying, body shaming, etc for fear of selection retribution, is now being selected by a guy who seems to believe the solution to bullying is a cup of cement and harden the f up.
WCGW 🤔
@lhall98@thereversestick@HockeyAustralia I don't agree that someone else should be dropped. The political shambles of a selection process by Hockey Australia shouldn't further hurt anyone caught up in it. Spots for Morgan/Lynch should be created and all squad members given equal opportunity to impress for the final team
@thereversestick@lhall98@HockeyAustralia The selection is no longer about who's best for the team, it's now about which 2 players best complement an existing squad. Given the specialist nature of a Goalkeeper, picking a 4th one for one of those spots would be a crazy decision. Surely grounds for a second appeal though?
@thereversestick@lhall98@HockeyAustralia Correct. The lengths Hockey Australia seemed prepared to go to to keep them out of those spots makes no sense. The appeal found that they should have been selected in the first place yet now they're being asked to compete against the rest of the country for 2 remaining spots.
@AnthColangelo@theage@smh The fact this obvious miscarriage of justice was allowed to carry on for so long is an embarrassment to the sport and an indictment of the Hockey Australia board. Surely heads now have to roll. Matt Favier first in line. @HockeyAustralia@Ausdrill
What an embarrassment for Hockey Australia! 130 days to come to a conclusion the rest of the hockey World could have told you in December. Now being told they have to be selected again instead of being put back into the squad as they should have been in the first place? WTAF??
Rachael Lynch and Georgie Morgan have won appeals against the decision to cut them from the squad in late 2020, although their selection for Tokyo remains uncertain. https://t.co/zJeVJ2X0o2
World goalkeeper of the year Rachael Lynch and former captain Georgina Morgan want to compete at the Tokyo, but remain frozen out of the squad despite the fact the selectors who dropped them have all resigned https://t.co/ABSvERBIKE
@georgebazeley@HockeyAustralia Unless the Board were inappropriately involved in the sackings and are scared about it coming out. There was a curious mention in the recommendations about a warning letter to a player 🤔
This word-salad from @HockeyAustralia CEO @FavierMatt is a desperate attempt to absolve himself from any responsibility. The @Hockeyroos repeatedly voiced concerns. The recommendations speak to that and highlight organisational incompetence. The system was designed to silence.
@PedroChizo@_snakethejake@Hockeyroos@Ausdrill @FortescueNews Agree completely that the players will be unfairly affected by a loss of sponsorship but the board have shown they're unwilling or unable to put player welfare ahead of their own self interest. Without external pressure more young women will be hurt in the long run.
@FOXSportsAUS@ChristypDoran What world does the CEO live in where he thinks the onus is on the players to continually report abuses to the board? If the board was notified in 2018 of the problems, failed to address them fully and made no attempt to check, they failed in their duty of care to players.
@TraceyLeeHolmes@AFL@tanyahosch@BasketballAus@JerrilRechter@HockeyAustralia Good interview but the implication that Morgan/Lynch sackings started this is wrong. The review had been announced long before they were dropped. They showed the exact leadership the review recommended and have been hung out to dry by Hockey Australia. Now the...
Ashley Morrison cutting through the spin from @HockeyAustralia. The leadership void on the Board has been on full display before, during and since the findings. It's time they were held to account.
Hockey Australia report's recommendations raise a whole set of new questions.
More Questions Than Answers https://t.co/hM8FAkkA2k via @notthefootyshow@HockeyAustralia@Hockeyroos
First 2 paragraphs of statement:
-No one else understands an elite environment.
-It was COVIDS fault.
-The Olympics being delayed caused it.
CEO - It was before my time.
How many more copouts and ridiculous excuses can you come up with @HockeyAustralia ?
#hockeyroos
@orch3 Then add that they were made personally aware of the problems in 2018 and failed to address any of it. Then doubled down on support for Toni and Paul (against the players), only to push them out once they realised they couldn't bury the findings. It's a joke!
@orch3 It's crazy that the Board are claiming this report exonerates them. The recommendations were that basic corporate governance policies from two decades ago weren't being implemented. That alone should see the board cleared.
