@pearlosnhlpow@clshoe generic answer? 3-6mo. I was told 4-6, but don't have resources of pro athlete. while not major surgery, still slow to heal (avascular). assume he got surgery ASAP, puts him back mid Nov. will still take some games to feel normal. but w/Wally, no rush. so close to full by Dec?
@clshoe@pearlosnhlpow to clarify, by "serious" I took you to mean "major" surgery, which typically means open surgery (i.e. doctor performs operation w/an open incision.)
whereas "arthroscopic" is considered minor surgery because there are minimal, small incisions made for just the probes/tools.
@clshoe@pearlosnhlpow statements I read say he won't be ready for the *start* of the season (i.e. camp), but likely back in the fall. surgery on a joint can often have longer healing timeframes bc ligaments, tendons & cartilage are avascular, so limited blood flow. I only know bc I've had a couple.
@pearlosnhlpow@clshoe don't think it'll be a serious long-term issue, BUT... you're right in that teams will be cautious regardless, so it absolutely harms his trade value.
and while I've suggested him as an option, realistically, he's prob a better trade chip at the deadline than for current trades.
@ATess629@pearlosnhlpow@ATess629 not my fault you're as dumb as a box of fucking rocks. it's called a hip arthroscopic debridement. I had the same procedure done myself after years of playing goal (and catcher). and guess what, my doctors didn't call it a "clean up" procedure either. retard.
@ATess629@pearlosnhlpow It was a minor clean up procedure for wear and tear, not a specific injury. It's been widely and clearly reported as such. It's a pretty common surgery among goaltenders.
@ATess629@pearlosnhlpow Huh? If it's not for a specific injury, then it's a clean up procedure. That's...how it works. If you don't get that, don't know what to tell ya. Just because the article(s) you read didn't specifically say "clean up" procedure doesn't mean it wasn't that.

@TactfulXerox@pearlosnhlpow Agreed. And while they might not LIKE to trade him, gotta give to get. And by this point – if EDM doesn't upgrade in net – does McDavid stick around? He's only signed for 2 years & turns 30 in Jan. Imagine he's not keen on suffering through another year w/crap goaltending.
@ScoutingIce@OhNyquist DET/MN both need 3rd team (e.g. EDM)
Then return is better.
Larkin > MN
Nuge, Stamel/Yurov, 1st > DET
Gust > EDM
MN gets their 1C, EDM (finally) gets quality starter 4 McD/Drai window, (Gus surgery just clean up + signed for 5), DET gets quality C back in Nuge + 1st + prospect
@Notmebutme31@TBoneStallone69@6ErikJohnson Depends. In this case, yes, for reasons you noted. And initial reports on Gus was it's minor (played through it after all) & he'll be ready in fall, just maybe not camp. And if you're EDM, locking up good starter for 5 yrs in the McD/Drai window is huge. Gotta take the long view.
@Notmebutme31@TBoneStallone69@6ErikJohnson Wild need to bring in a 3rd team.
E.g. EDM
Larkin > MN
Gus > EDM
Nugent-Hopkins > DET
Yurov/Strammel and 1st > DET
Detroit gets a quality C back + pick & prospect(s), Edmonton (finally) gets a starter for McD/Drai window, & MN gets our 1C in Larkin.
@Connor_29cle@KyleA9491@Spenmorax Early reports suggested it's not major (had already played through it), and that he'll be back in fall. Just maybe no ready for camp.
@Zeusmtl94@Mattymar89 Or MN could bring in a 3rd team.
Say EDM? They need a starting goalie.
Larkin > MN
Gus > EDM
Nuge > DET
Yurov/Strammel and 1st > DET
DET gets quality C back & picks & prospects for the downgrade, EDM (finally) gets a starter (just maybe in Nov), MN gets their 1C in Larkin
@ThatsALottaGs Edmonton needs a starter...
for shits & giggles...
Larkin > MN
Gus > Edm
Nugent-Hopkins > Det
Yurov/Strammel and 1st > Det
Detroit gets a quality C & recoups prospects & picks for that downgrade, Edmonton (finally) gets a starter (maybe just in Nov), MN gets our 1C in Larkin
