Taking my reporter hat off for a second, I'm baffled that Mallard Creek's Nyan Brown was called for a DQ for basically showing the back of his hand while crossing the finish line.
I don't know the letter of the law rules here, but he was fully aware that he was about to win his school a third straight championship. Kids, adults, all of us, would get excited in a moment like this.
I didn't see any effort to taunt or show anyone up.
Sometimes we need to huddle up and review the tape and come up with the right call.
