@Ed_Miliband Please tell me why you allow farmland to be covered in solar panels, which takes land out of food production and stops the carbon sink effect of pasture whilst creating an eyesore. Mandating solar installations on publicly owned buildings and new builds would seem better.
@Ed_Miliband@UKLabour If only you had supported exploitation of our own fossil fuels, secured as a jointly owned asset for the UK taxpayer, *as well as* invested in renewables. You are so blinded by your ideology that you set us on a path to ruin and we are now reaping what you have sown.
Activist: "Your cows are putting carbon into the atmosphere."
Farmer: "Where did they get it?"
Activist: "What?"
Farmer: "The carbon. Where did the cow get it before it put it anywhere."
Activist: "From... eating?"
Farmer: "From eating grass. And where did the grass get it."
Activist: "The soil?"
Farmer: "The air. The grass pulled it out of the air last spring. The cow ate the grass. The cow breathed some of it back out. It went back into the air it came from."
Activist: "But it's still going into the atmosphere."
Farmer: "It's going back. There's a difference between a thing going somewhere and a thing going back. You've described a circle and you're frightened of it."
Activist: "Then just don't have the cow."
Farmer: "The grass still dies in autumn. It rots where it falls. The carbon goes back into the air either way, just without anyone getting fed in the middle."
Activist: "It's not that simple."
Farmer: "It's grass, cow, breath, grass. Or it's grass, rot, air, grass. Same circle, fewer dinners. If that's complicated for you I'd stay away from the water cycle. That one's got clouds in it."
Labour just voted to block North Sea drilling during an energy crisis.
Turning down more domestic supply and £25 BILLION in extra tax revenue.
That means more taxes on ordinary people instead.
Economically illiterate doesn't even begin to cover it.
The Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea could be up and running in just a few months.
Enough gas to heat 1.6 million homes.
Every single drop will go into our pipes.
Ed Miliband is blocking it.
Madness.
@afneil why is the fact that emigration is at record levels always ignored when net migration is discussed? The British people most concerned about the state of the UK - a lot of them it seems - are simply leaving!
@TrisOsborneMP@ONS@Conservatives@UKLabour So @Conservatives under the leadership of @RishiSunak and Jeremy Hunt managed to pull it down from 12.5% to 2.5% after a global pandemic and during Russian invasion of UKraine. Labour have managed to increase inflation to 4% from 2.5% by being less competent. 👍
@owenjonesjourno They could blame all the higher rate tax payers who left to bring the NET immigration down. Over half a million brits have left in the past 2 years, most of them under 40.
