https://t.co/NvKT9FoRfe Ever wonder how the AI director in Left 4 Dead 2 experiences the game? I'm building a framework on how to improve on director AI to better understand it. #research#PhD#valve#left4dead2@ioct_dmu@Midlands4Cities
Atmosphere, often used in horror, may seem like simple sustained tones. But when I create them, I focus on height, depth, temperature, scent, and most importantly, an organic, living spirit. While different from typical musical construction, I put great care into crafting them.
@TheOtherFrost The whole concept of 'honest review' is so disingenuous because gaming is such a subjective medium. Trying to be totally objective is a thankless task
@AIandGames Yep, it's a real car crash. As an early career dev/designer I feel really burned spending so much time learning Unity to the level I have, when I could have spent time elsewhere
@TheOtherFrost Choice paralysis makes some games really hard for me to enjoy. I think that's why I like JRPGs over 'make your own hero from 500 combinations' WRPGs
Listening to music with haptics is a truly wonderful experience, and really helps you appreciate the music in a totally new way. If you closed your eyes you could be at a gig with the right track.
@AIandGames@GTElephant@Kronos45196677 I think the accessibility of the engine caused a lot of it, and people can’t objectively look at what has been done with the engine, good and bad games absolutely exist on both engines, but unity is where most start so we see more asset flips and basic games
