In 1944, during the Battle of Saipan, U.S. Marine Marvin Strombo took a silk Japanese flag from the body of a fallen soldier named Sadao Yasue.

The flag was no ordinary souvenir. It was a Yosegaki Hinomaru, covered with handwritten messages from Sadao's family and friends, all wishing him a safe journey home.

Strombo carried it back to America, but he never thought of it as a trophy. Before leaving the battlefield, he made himself a quiet promise that one day, if he ever had the chance, he would return it to the family it belonged to.

Seventy three years later, at the age of 93, he flew nearly 10,000 miles to Japan and placed the flag into the hands of Sadao's younger brother.

It was the first belonging from Sadao that his family had seen since he left for war. His remains were never found.

For the Yasue family, it felt as though a part of their brother had finally come home.

A promise made on a battlefield in 1944 was finally kept in 2017, proving that even after decades of silence, one act of compassion can still bring peace to a family that never stopped waiting.

I know Pastor Nuhad Hassan personally.

He is a Kurd from a Muslim background who converted to Christianity and led a church in Lebanon for over a decade.

On July 19, Pastor Nuhad went to Syria to visit his village, and on July 20 he was arrested by al-Julani’s government over posts he made during the Afrin massacre against the Kurds.

I just hung up the phone with friends and family members who are seriously concerned that he will be sentenced to death, the judges in Syria today are former ISIS jihadists, and they will sentence him according to sharia.

I will contact the members of Congress who support al-Julani and urge them to intervene for Pastor Nuhad’s release.

台湾这次查出的苯并芘是 8.1 μg/kg，他们的标准是不得超过 2.0 μg/kg，跟欧盟一样，所以是毒油。但大陆食用油标准是 10 μg/kg，就是说，这次台湾的"毒油"，在大陆是合格食用油。

即便 10 μg/kg 这么宽的标准，大陆厂商也出过多起超标。比如北大荒国企委托九三农垦金豆油脂生产的有机大豆油，检出 15.9 μg/kg，超标 59%；湖南金浩茶油，企业自查显示浸出毛茶油约 60 μg/kg，是当时限量的 6 倍……这简直是下毒了。

为了个在大陆看��合格的食用油，台湾闹得像要起义似的。但之前大陆煤油罐车装食用油事件，我们骂两句之后，也没人上街抗议，仍岁月静好、诗与远方。

Living in Los Angeles during COVID was quite the trip.
Solo paddleboarders being arrested in Malibu w/ beaches closed and police patrolling the sand. Sand being poured into skate parks in Venice. An unelected, non-medical "Dr." Barbara Ferrer calling the shots. Banning OUTDOOR dining, including forcing restaurants to turn their TVs off - then later admitting they had no medical evidence to support it. Vaccine mandates to enter establishments. All while they were falsely inflating COVID-19 hospitalization data in local hospitals to justify the the panic, not differentiating who was hospitalized with COVID, or for COVID.

If you broke your leg and tested positive for COVID, even with no symptoms, you were counted as a COVID hospitalization in Los Angeles County.

Those numbers were used to impose the lockdowns and strict rules.

So many businesses never recovered.

Did you know that when an inmate on death row is euthanized by lethal injection they use potassium chloride but they also use an anesthetic and paralyzing agent to ease the pain of the potassium chloride.
