@JosephPolitano Since productivity has increased so much it's hard to know whether this negative migration has any meaningful impact on state revenues.
It doesn’t look like there’s been any meaningful impact on GDP.
@JosephPolitano The most surprising thing about this graph is that the share of tech jobs in CA grew so much between 2010 and 2020.
The 2nd most surprising thing is that there is a steady decline from 2020. I would've expected a sharp cliff there when everyone went remote as part of COVID.
@charliemktplace@JosephPolitano It would be helpful to those of us who aren’t chart experts to understand your complaint. Are you upset that the y axis doesn’t start at zero?
@0xblacklight@aarondfrancis@0xblacklight Nothing is as useful as an elaborated example. It would be super helpful to post the "less than 60 lines" of your root CLAUDE md. I presume there's nothing sensitive in there since it should be broadly applicable to all tasks.
@joshuatheard@mattyglesias I guess that’s one way to frame it. Another way to frame it: spending rose by $800 billion, so DOGE actually saved nothing (or it saved negative $200 billion)
This event is significant because it is major demonstration of someone giving a LLM a set of instructions and the results being totally not at all what they predicted.
@besttrousers Why base comp on the state median income? Seems overly advantageous for rural workers and bad for city workers. We have the data to figure this out at a more local level (e.g. the county).
@pmddomingos Furthermore, it presumes that women gaining power has no effect on the neuroticism of women in general. For example, maybe they're more neurotic because the power men wield makes them more anxious...
@pmddomingos Syllogistic logical fallacy: even if the assertion "women are more neurotic than men" is true, you cannot generalize it to "as they gain more power society becomes more neurotic as well". It assumes that women in power have the characteristics of the population as whole.
@TheAnnaGat Best argument I've heard for socialized medicine is it would spur entrepreneurship. Lots of people would strike out on their own if they didn't have to worry about dependable health insurance for their family. Our socialized highway system created unbelievable personal wealth.
