This week we celebrated the achievements of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Engineered Quantum Systems. Over the last 7 years the Centre has made major breakthroughs in quantum systems research and positioned Australia as a global leader in the field. Congrats to all involved!
@jamfrank42 explains how the #darkmatter search led to the development of a technology to reduce the side effects of drugs.
“We wouldn’t have invented this if we weren’t looking for dark matter."

Have you been asked what you do at Christmas/NYE parties? It is a question that #darkmatter scientists are often asked ... and it can be difficult to explain just what we are searching for!
Jeremy Bourhill of @uwanews describes what he is looking for in his research.

What a ride it has been!
✅ 7,000km
✅ 40 towns and cities
✅ 25 schools
We had a ball spreading the word about #quantum and #darkmatter science across Australia.
Thank you @Aus_ScienceWeek and all the schools and communities that welcomed us.

Scientists, including a team from The University of Western Australia, have embarked on a 7,000 kilometre road trip with a difference — talking quantum physics and dark matter in schools and pubs across Australia.

@uwanews @ARC_EQUS @ARC_DMPP
Road tripper Jeremy Bourhill conducts experiments using special fridges that reach the lowest temperatures on the planet, which stops atoms from moving around.
"This allows us to observe the quantum mechanical behaviour inside the experiments."

@TheLocalFrance If I wanted to get to Paris (from Breton) to take an international flight home, can I take the train or a domestic Air France flight? If so what exemptions would I need?
