@quantian1 I worked every day with this expensive stuff, almost everyone else there were in their late 20s early 30s, had heard of wagyu but never eaten it. People were psyched. We seared it super carefully. Collectively like 40 of us couldn’t finish all of it. Too much chewy butter.
@quantian1 I took it back to my Brooklyn apartment, texted as many friends as possible (most Manhattan restaurant people with a few weird days off) and cryptic message on FB about a party at my place “you didn’t want to miss”.

@ScriptingJapan During my time as an ALT there was one day the kyushoku was Indian Curry that included naan. I witnessed an actual 5 min Who’s on First routine as a young teacher tried to explain the name of the bread to an older teacher and they got caught in ナンですか? loop.
@mindyisser@jordanawinkler It’s an open secret in Europe that if you need to offload a large amount of not good wine in a hurry that the PLCB is an easy mark. Because of the state stores not only is everyone paying 50% more than in NJ, the quality of what you get is worse.
@GPrime85 Holy cow, who are you people?!? Grew up in the city until I was 10 (1989) came in as often as I could for friends and concerts until I left the area for college after high school, then moved back and have been here since 2007. You all are talking about a cartoon New York.
New York Public Radio execs want to lay off 12% of staff this week. We’re home to WNYC, WQXR, Gothamist, The Green Space + your fave podcasts. We’re asking execs to choose a different way. #ListenersNotLayoffs

@merchantofvice @ihatejoelkim Pre minced garlic?? Absolutely not. Take 60 seconds to chop garlic that actually tastes good. Connor, all these years I thought I knew you.
@zzdoublezz My cousin’s bookshop Treadwell’s is a great little oasis! Specializes in the occult but is frankly just a great spot to browse all kinds of non-kooky books on global subcultures.
@ZaidJilani Clearly you haven’t been to NYC recently. Since Adams’ I have seen 2-6 cops permanently in basically every station in the system 24 hours a day. I don’t agree think it’s helped, but regardless there are plenty of cops for people to turn to if they feel threatened.
